Ladies and the woman who have FALLEN in LOVE and had fallen for the FIRST time in LOVE in their LIFE will NEVER , NEVER and NEVER forget those moment of their life and in any case this ; a  line that might not be is somewhat so important and that  I have narrated here  above will always,  align to their those memories .
Some LIVES are lucky and they get that what they EVALUATE as PARAKH and some LIFE till the end of their life continues to evaluate to get that DIAMOND but they hardly get.
“ PARAKH ” celebrates it’s DIAMOND JUBILEE TODAY ie on May 29th 2020
Well the word “ PARAKH ” in Hindi means a PERFECT EVALUATION and this was the FILM released exactly 60 years ago .Today was the date and TODAY exactly it celebrates the DIAMOND JUBILEE of this film. This film is REMEMBERED for FIVE major fact and I illustrate them as under - :
A ) > It was the FIRST of the FILM which was IDOLISED with the VILLAGE as the central point of LOVE and CENTRAL POINT of Indian politics.
B ) > This was the film which was a BLACK-AND-THE-WHITE film with certain cosmetic applied to similise the ORIGINAL black – and – the – white effect and appearance of the same on the screen.
C ) > For the FIRST time the music composer Salilda ( Mr Salil Chowdhury ) used all the Indian music instrument to cast an effect of VILLAGE music scenario on the screen and he as well as his effort were and  was a TWITO act of him to which everybody accepted that his effort to create a LOVEBLE VILLAGE MUSIC was perhaps the ORIGINAL and the BEST that entered then in the Indian industry.
D ) >  It went miles and miles to start with and then over the NINTH sky for the two- Madam Lata Mangeshkar and the heroine Sadhana  to be a " PRIMMA-DONNA " in their field of activity
E ) > Though it was a SATARICAL film infact it was completely based on the concept of village which was related to Indian democracy infact DEMOCRATISATION OF INDIAN VILLAGE a concept which was for the FIRST time in the annal of Indian silver screen was put as a story by the GREAT BIMAL ROY The experiment was SIMPLY OSTENTATIOUS and MELLORAMANIAC
MELLORAMANIAC actually means EARBALL and PARAKH was the FIRST and the classic example of the same. This film won AWARDS after AWARDS and the TWO ladies who made it possible DEFINITELY was Latadi whom we know her as Lata Mangeshkar and the SURPRISE of all SURPRISE the late Madam             “ SADHANA SHIVDASANI ”  who we know as Sadhana married to the late O P Nayyar then.
MOLECULE TRANFER : LEARNED IN CHEMISTRY, SAW IN THE HINDI MOVIE , “ VILARIOUS ” dance
Between 1958 to 1960 the late DIRECTOR, Bimalda ( Mr Bimal Roy ) was producing two movies. His venture “ MADHUMATI ” starring Dilip Kumar and Vyajantimala , INFACT had Sadhana in the role opposite Dilip Kumar but as the film needed some VIRALIOUS dances in the movie to cite as an example DEKHO RE SAATHI BICHHUAA and some on the hillocks , to cite as an example Ghad- Ghadi Mera Dil Dhadke and some more with Dilip Kumar as a dance in the village scenes then , Mr Bimal Roy inspite of selecting Sadhana the for the movie took her out of the same and selected Madhubala for the same. Madhubala was a PEACHLESS actor and a CLASS dancer.
However during that time the shooting of the film “ MUGHAL-E-AZAM ” also was in full swing and often and more often than not, the heroine of that film Madhubala would VOMIT on the set. It was later found that she was suffering from BLOOD CANCER. During those days the STORY of ETERNAL LOVE between Dilip Kumar and Madhubala was the TALK-OF-THE-TOWN for everybody. However ONE SLAP of Dilip Kumar to Madubala in REALITY completely changed the CHEMISTRY that occurred between them and THAT WAS THAT.
On the insistence of Dilip Kumar and the falling health of Madhubala then, decided the loads in favour of some other heroine to be casted for the film MADUMATI and finally the “ DANCE-  IMPHILIO ” who prefer to call it is IMPILO went in favour of Vyajantimala. The moment came and it went and then Mr Bimal Roy made up in his mind that HE WILL CAST Madam Sadhana in his NEXT venture which he had in his mind and it was “ PARAKH ”
The film Madumati was a GOLDEN JUBILEE hit . It ran in a theatre at Kolkatta for about a year without it being stopped. The reason was the sone  and the SONGS. Every song in that film sung by Latadi was infact a Bengali version which was converted into Hindi so beautifully by Vasant Desai that it needs no example to again explain it. The music also was composed by Salilda who took the Bengali Village FOLKLORE in terms of the music and put a class of a example which only could be classified as                      “ EXTEMPORE ”  REALLY – ONE DID NOT HAVE TO THINK ANYTHING AFTER WATCHING THIS FILM AND ESPECIALLY THE " SONGS "  .
There was NO practice needed for anything while recording the songs of Madumati. It was just like SEE IT- UNDERSTAND IT – SING IT . That was it That film which started  in 1957 was released in 1958 and it WAS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 1958 THAT LATADI WON THAT FILMFARE AWARD
Immediately next Mr Bimal Roy fell to his next venture “ PARAKH ” It started immediately the next day after the film Madhumati was released and this was completed by 1960 during the month of March to release it on May 27th 1960 .However for some reason the film was released on May 29th and  TODAY IT MARKS THE DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE RELEASE OF THE FILM.
Infact the film had all the stars who had that VILLAGE ORIENTATION as this film was a DEMOCRATIC SARTICAL film about the villages of India and their DEMOCRATIC RIGHT that it needed from the film to throw it as a  POLITICAL SUCCOUR to the country, however the GREAT Bimalda showed and revealed it in a VERY “ EFFERVESCENT COOL MANNER ” without being RUSTIC and being far more HOLISTIC.
" SENSOUS " and " MAGIC " MADE THE FILM :: SADHANA AND LATADI TO THE FORE
The sensuous beauty of Sadhana and the magical voice of Lata Mangeshkar created one of the most captivating moments on the screen in this classic Bimal Roy film. “O Sajana, Barkha Bahaar Aai…” a personal favourite of Lata, is the highpoint of “ Parakh ” and captures an unglamorous Sadhana  GLAMOURISED SO PLAINLY AND THAT TOO  WITHOUT ANY COSMETIC at her best. The other number, “Mila Hai Kisika Jhumka”, is a typical racy song with Lata again demonstrating her classical range.
Bimalda was infact a BAANGAAL and he and his family had shifted from East Pakistan then before the partition and so was Salilda. That VILLAGE orientation of these two DIAMONDS was infact the CHEMISTRY of two MOLECULES sharing their places to complete the OCTET. However when Madam Sadhana was cast in the film instead of Vyajantimala the COMPLETE transfer of the MOLECULES from one compound to the another and one ELEMENT to the ANOTHER was complete .
Madumati- originally Madam Sadhana and finally Vyajantimala and Parakh, originally Vyajantimala and finally Sadhana and that was the TRANFER of the MOLECULES between TWO ELEMENTS to complete the OCTET and complete the CHEMICAL EQUATION is what we as a LEARNER and GREAT FOLLOWERS of the HINDI films could see and UNDERSTAND though this process.  The transfer of the molecules and the atoms in a chemical equation explained by our teachers of chemistry  at the class room DID NOT GIVE US MANY A MARKS IN OUR UNIT TEST AND ANY OTHER TEST while we were at the school explaining the same in our test examinations but no sooner that we saw these two films the REACTIONS were very clear to us. It was all in favour of Bimalda-Salilda and NO LESS – NO MORE .
The casting were very delicately chosen with Sadhana,  Basanta Chowdury, as the hero of the film Motilal, Keshto Mukherjee, Durga Khote, Kanhaiyalal, Nazir Hussian and Hari Shivdasani, the father of Madam Sadhana playing the role of a cop doing all the GREAT TRICKS in terms of acting and what was MORE- THIS WAS THE “ FIRST” FILM IN THE ANNALS OF INDIAN FILM INDUSTRY TO HAVE RECEIVED 87% ( EIGHTY-SEVEN-PERCENT ) of the ACCALIM as the BEST FILM, ONE OF IT that they had seen .It was MORE than the acclaim that Mughal-E-Azam and Madhumati got it then.
Plot Of “ PARAKH ”
The central character is the Post Master who is given a mysterious cheque for ₹500,000 to be given to anyone who will use it to benefit the people of the village. There is a postman who pretends to be lame and is secretly rich and may have sent the cheque. Then there is the postmaster's wife, who is sick and would rather use the money to cure her illness, and his beautiful daughter Seema (played by Sadhana), who has a crush on the village schoolmaster. Meanwhile, all the greedy and influential people of the village are busy trying to convince everybody why they are most deserving of the money; they include the village priest, the landlord, the money lender, the village doctor, and the schoolmaster, who is by far the most respected.
They all decide democracy is the best means and decide to hold an election where the winner gets the money. The movie is a satirical look at  the Indian  DEMOCRACY, democracy through various twists and turns in the plot, interwoven with a simple love story .
The two songs O O O Sajana Barkha Bahaar Aayi was sung by Latadi exactly in the year 1959  in Bengali and the words were NAA JEYO NAA and the other one Yeh Bansi Kyon Gaye  was also sung by her in Bengali the words being- AEI BAASHI KANO HOYE and ofcourse Latadi no sooner that she was handed these two songs to sing WITHIN a FLASH and a FLICK of her finger just sang it in HINDI and the records that sold out then were more than a lakhs in India which made the HIS MASTER VOICE company a FILTHY – RICH – BOISTEROUS – ORGANISATION trading in the business of selling the SP/EP/LP in India .
Today I put these facts here. Amongst the casts that I have mentioned, Bimalda, Madam Sadhana, Keshto Mukherjee, Basanta Choudhury, Kanhaiyalal, Nazir Hussian Hari Shivdasani are NO MORE with us. They have all LEFT us for their HOME-ABODE. I do not know about Salilda but ONLY Latadi is ALIVE.
This article is for them who were born between the period of 1935 to 1945 and even from 1945 to 1965 at the most to REALLY go back to those days and REMINISCENE themselves with the GOLDEN HISTORY and the GOLDEN MOMENT of the past and it is a ODE to Bimalda-Salilda and Latadi though she is alive and KICKING HARD as ever at 93 as my RESPECT and TRIBUTE to them as well as to the entire cast of the FILM PARAKH which completely BROUGHT the ESSENCE of the Indian village then in FORM of POLITICS for bagging that HOT-SEAT of the Prime Minister represented by that cheque of Rs 5,000,00=00 at the time when INDIA was MOVING itself  from the FIRST GEAR to the SECOND and the BEHAVIOUR of the Indian politics portrayed by the VILLAGERS in the film  cast so aristrocratically by the GREAT Bimalda
I’m putting here three songs of the film Parakh and ONE from the film “ MUNMAUJI” in which Sadhana  had starred with Kishoreda ( Kishore Kumar ) and the song is MAI TO TUMSAY, NAIN MILAKAR HAAR GAYI to just demonstate HOW MAJESTICALLY Madam Sadhana would act in the films where she had to potray herself as a VILLAGER or as a POOR lady residing in the HUTS .

A lady who should have been awarded the PADMA SHRI which she DID NOT GET and a CRICKETER walks away with BHARAT RATNA who JUST DOES NOT DESERVES THAT
NO DOUBT- YEH BANSI KYON GAYE ……." YEH REET JANAY KAISEE "
THANKS BIMALDA THANKS SALILDA THANKS “ LATADI ”  FOR “ PARAKH ”
That is it
Regards
