 Reality Bites :: Indian Hockey – 1932 versus 1952
Nobody would like to throw any slur  on anybody and this article written is no exception Here I’m NOT trying to make any comparism between anybody and I’m not trying to say whao is great and who is not
Great always remains GREAT but the GREATNESS of the GREATS are the milestone in terms of the    " DISTINCTIVENESS-DEGREE "  that they have achieved in their life . This defines the DEGREE of GREATNESS and this article is just to redefine the DEGREE of the greatness that the Indian sports has it with it.
A few days ago Mr Balbir Singh the CAPTAIN of the Indian hockey team of 1956 which won the GOLD at the Melbourne Olympics  had expired and SOME lines about him is being written here.
After his DEATH there were many and there have been many who EPITOMISED him saying that  HIS FIVE GOALS ARE THE RECORDS IN TERMS OF THE MOST NUMBER OF GOALS SCORED BY ANYBODY IN A FINAL GAME IN THE MEN’S OLYMPIC HOCKEY
It is WRONG and VERY WRONG.I’m putting here the matches played by India in 1932 against her opponent and the scores as well the name of the scorers in that tournament
Pics-:: Indian Olympic Hockey Team 1932, Los Angeles Olympics, California
In 1932 in the Olympic Hockey which was played on the ROUND-ROBIN basis India in her TWO matches against Japan and U S A scored 35 goals in TWO matches, the SAME as as in 1928 at Amsterdam where India had scored 35 goals in SEVEN matches from the FIRST to the finals.
Anyway at Los Angeles in 1932 India conceded two  goals in two games, ONE-EACH against Japan and USA. In that tourney in the final games against USA India scored a RESOUNDING and an UNPARALLEL 24 ie TWENTY FOUR goals as against ONE to win the GOLD
The Indian pair of Dhyanchand and Roop Singh together, the TWO BROTHERS in between them scored  19  rpt NINETEEN goals between them in that finals . Roop Singh’s ELEVEN goals is  THE MOST NUMBER OF GOALS  INDIVIDUALLY SCORED BY AN INDIAN IN THE FINALS AS WELL AS IN ANY OLYMPIC MAIN HOCKEY GAMES
As after the DEATH of Mr Balbir Singh there were many and MOST who in the TV Channels in order to pay a respect to him and a MARK of respect started flashing the news that HIS FIVE GOALS ARE THE RECORDS IN TERMS OF THE MOST NUMBER OF GOALS SCORED BY ANYBODY IN A FINAL GAME IN THE MEN’S OLYMPIC HOCKEY
Now this is  totally wrong and very very WRONG .I’m placing my statistics and records here for the same. Here in the records which says that Roop Singh had scored TEN goals in the finals of the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics is also WRONG. Infact he had scored ELEVEN and NOT ten as it is published and earmarked here.
Pics - : Written In Hindi, Dhyanchand had scored EIGHT goals in the 1932 Olympic Finals
Infact there is ONE book written by a member of Major Dhyanchand’s family Madam Mina Umesh Dhyanchand  who has written a autobiography on Major Dhyanchand, which goes to say that Dhyanchand scored EIGHT GOALS in that match where India won by 24-1 against the U S A in the finals. I’m also putting that lines written by them in a book about Mr Dhyanchand here. I have corroborated firmly with all the proofs about Dhyanchands record to compare it with Balbir Singh Sr about Olympic finals in hockey
It also  ie the book says that Dhyanchand had scored TWO goals in the finals of the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. THAT IS ALSO WRONG . Infact all the THREE goals of the 1928 Olympics Hockey finals were scored by Dhyanchand

In the finals YES Balbir Singh Sr had scored FIVE out of the SIX goals . Now comes the comparism:
A ) > As CRIED out by many a channels that Balbir Singh’s FIVE goals in the finals against Holland still stands the ALL-TIME-RECORD of any Indian player scoring FIVE GOALS in the Final game of a Olympic Hockey- IT IS A WRONG STATEMENT. The ELEVEN goals scored by Roop Singh still stands out as the RECORD and the HIGHEST number of goals scored by any player in the finals of an Olympic Hockey game.
B ) > In an interview to accord him ie Mr Balbir Singh an honour, it was Mr Singh who read it out from a hand written paper that HE HAD SMASHED ALL THE RECORD OF MAJOR DHYANCHAND.
It is WRONG again. The deceased Mr Balbir Singh has NIETHER SMASHED nor TOUCHED any record of Major Dhyanchand . Infact leave apart the record of breaking Captain Roop Singh’s eleven goals in the finals, Balbir Singh could NOT even TOUCH the EIGHT GOALS that Major Dhyanchand had scored in the finals of an Olympic Hockey game.
Pic - : Dhyanchand scoring SIXTH  of his EIGHT goals in the 1932 Olympic Final
C ) > . In the THREE Oympics from 1928 to 1936 I’m NOT counting the goals scored by Dhyanchand  in the 1936 Olympics as that would be a waste of time . I’m ONLY taking out the goals scored by him in the FIRST-TWO Olympic games that he played . In the 1928 and the 1932 Olympics hockey in the TWO-EDITION that he played he scored 26 GOALS. Balbir Singh Senior had NOT even TOUCHED twenty goals in the three Olympics event that he played in 1948 , 1952 , and 1956 . HOW IS THAT HE SMASHED ALL THE RECORDS OF DHYANCHAND Is that NOT a JOKE to have said those words by the media.
HATTRICK-::
For the FIVE goals that he scored against Holland in the finals of the 1952 Olympics , everybody in the media on that day and the press started claiming that- HIS WAS THE FIRST AND THE ONLY HATTRICK BY AN INDIAN TO HAVE SCORED IN THE FINALS.
Well what about Roop Singh DOUBLE-HATTRICK in the finals against U S A in 1932, Dhyanchand against U S A in 1932, Dhyanchand against Germany in the finals against Germany in 1936 where he scored the LAST FOUR goals in the last FOUR minutes,  for India in their 8-1 victory and NOT-TO-FORGET his HATTRICK against Holland in the finals of the 1928 Olympics against Holland at Amsterdam.
THREE “ HATTRICKS” IN THREE OLYMPIC FINALS IN HOCKEY
Infact major Dhyanchand IS-THE-ONLY-PLAYER in the annals of the OLYMPIC HOCKEY to have scored HATTRICKS in THREE-CONSECUTIVE-OLYMPIC-FINALS.
In the 1928 in their final game against Holland at Amsterdam, Dhyanchand scored ALL the three goals in the finals. Again in the 1932 Olympics Final Round Robin League game against USA he scored a DOUBLE-HATTRICK in the finals. His younger brother ROOPSINGH too achieved that feat in that game against USA.
Pics - :: 1932 Los Angeles, Roop Singh " ARROWING " towards Japanese goal to score
Lastly in the final game against Germany in 1936 Dhyanchand scored a FOUR-GOALS-IN-THE-LAST-FOUR-MINUTES of the game to score another HATTRICK.
Where has and where did Balbir Singh Sr achieved that kind of a feat for the media to write in a hand written paper to give it to Balbir Singh Sr to read it and MAKE the WORLD a FOOL courtesy the " GREAT " Indian TV media.
Media Always Does that-:
I have been watching the WORLD-THIS-WEEK from 1989 when I first started watching the electronic media held by the private firms
I have always noticed that the media airs all BULL-SHITS when it comes to cornering the GLORY to accumulate the TIRPAT-RAPATROLLA-KA-PAATHSHAALA the TRP as we call that
Wrongs- Illogical-absurdity is their hallmark. Some of them who are in the field of airing the news and some of them who are purely in the field of sports have made a “ SHIT ” of everything that it could be possible. These personalities think that they KNOW everything and they are a MASTER in everything that they speak of.
It is SO- DISTURBING and so IRRITATING to bear them and bear their nonsense. Fixing a BOMBAY/MUMBSAI lens in a HYDERABADI frame to wear it or don it on the eye and air the nonsense does not make anybody a GREAT just if he has to BARK that Sachin Tendulkar is the INVINSIBLE of every sports that has taken place in the world. The way these media personalities went to beat everything to FORCE the Manmohan Singh and his Government then to confer him the BHARAT RATNA is nothing but a GREAT scar on the award itself beside a GREAT DEMEAN of that award and HIM as a SPORTSMAN.
The 200 international tons that he has scored, SIXTY-FIVE percent of them have ended with India losing the game and the match. How can you JUSTIFY that as a GREAT achievement in terms of translating that performance into India’s match victory. This is how the media behaves and has been behaving all the time. It is WRONG JOURNALISM to create a WRONG BRAND for the country. The one’s who needed to pocket the money have pocketed that and have whisked away leaving the deserving to the LURCH.
Leave apart Dhyanchand, Sachin Tendulkar will NOT be able to match his deeds against Roop Singh who just DID NOT GET anything from this nation for his ETERNAL and GODLY contribution to the Indian hockey especially in the Olympics PITY and SAD to say that NOT even a Padma Shri poshthumously. It really saddens everybody when one sees the way the Union Government confers this award and the way those who get it without being anywhere near to it to justify themselves. Especially in the reins of the Congress these awards did become the PRIVATE-PRASADAMS distributed from the temple of the Congress . It is  pity to write all about that
Coming to the media again- for my write ups in different blogs on football a local TVfrom their  CHIEF-OF-EDITORS of that TV channel at Bangalore who  send a man to me with his piece of paper to speak on Football and compare ITI-HAL and their football with East Bengal and Mohun Bagan in 2008
I read the piece, TORE IT BY 1000 pieces and threw it on the face of that man saying him GET LOST. On the same day at about 9.00PM I got a phone call from the Editor-in-Chief of that channel and it was a HOT ARGUMENT with him for my act .
The same might have happened with Mr Balbir Singh Sr.That GREAT man I'm sure might have got a written note written by some IDIOT from the world of media to read it to the public which he read.I saw Sania Mirza, Virat Kohli, his wife, and many others CLAPPING to the IDIOCRACIES that was coming out of Mr Balbir Singh's Sr mouth that day. It was all a scene of JOKE that was going on with Mr Balbir Singh reading the notes that was written on that piece of paper and these CHIMPS clapping.
These were NOT EVEN born but were clapping at every words that was coming out of his mouth. And in NO-TIME every record of Dhyanchand within that ten to fifteen minutes were broken  on the paper and NOT on the ground , as that PIECE of paper read by Mr Balbir Singh Sr broke it courtesy the media fellow ho might have written it for him to speak.
WELL- THAT IS INDIAN TV WORLD FOR YOU TO ENJOY
Well, coming back to my IMBROGLIO with that TV channeI IN - CHIEF  I  ended it saying him in a typical CCBHSS Hostel language- FUCK-OFF .  I DO NOT HAVE TO LEARN FOOTBALL OR ANYTHING THAT RELATES TO SPORTS AND IT’S RECORDS OR STATISTICS  FROM THESE  “ USELESS ’’  AND “ ROTTEN “  TV COMPERES AND THE CHANNELS THAT COMPARES ITI- HAL WITH EAST BENGAL AND MOHUN BAGAN.
" That is what the TV Channels are !! ..?? "
That is it
Regards

  1. It's utterly rubbish to even think about these three Wizards & their records being broken or smashed :
    1 - Pele
    2 - Bradman
3 - Dhyanchand. None of these three can be matched by any succeeding generation ever. All these three never traded their talent with money.🙏🙏🙏. The above three has been beaten by many a Indians only in one field.. ie; minting money. It's great tragedy that even in this digital era no initiative is being taken to restore. In such a scenario appreciate your effort to bring a few minutes of sheer joy & visualize the game played by Dhyanchand.
