Somethimes it happens, all of a sudden you get a “ DIAMOND ” and taking it to be a stone you throw it away . Today I’m giving you all a DIAMOND of a SONG, it is upto you to take it or throw it---- it depends on you. Now read the entire article……

It happens. In any system when the girl or a boy grows up to the stage of the maturity  the parents are always worried about their GOLDEN FUTURE. Every parent wish and want that their son or the daughter should be more happier than what they have been and that their accomplishment ought to be far more greater than what the parent have achieved in their life.

Obviously that also happened with Madam Bansuri Lahiri who was the mother of Alokesh Lahiri .Alokesh Lahiri it is whose  nickname is Mr Bhappi Lahiri and Madam Bansuri happens to be the FIRST cousin of the late Mr Kishore Kumar known as Kishoreda.

Both Mr Aparesh Lahiri and Mrs Bansuri Lahiri were well known singer and they hailed from Jalpaiguri. Obviously after Bhappida grew up and finished his studies the parents wanted to put him into a field where he would earn and make a future for himself.

Coming from a family Mr Bhappida wanted to emulate his parents. Who would be the best guide, friend and philosopher for this kind of a young coot- the ready made answer that came to their mind was Kishoreda. As it is Mr Bhappi Lahiri wanted to be a singer.

One fine day the family started the travel all fom Jalpaiguri to Mumbai to meet Kishoreda. They just wanted to take his advise and help so that the young coot could move ahead with right kind of a guidance and could make his progress smooth and easy. They reached Mumbai and were at the house of Kishoreda.

Obviously meting his sister after such a LONG time, Kishoreda was elated and happy. After all the  paraphernalia’s came the moment and the serious talk. “ MAAMU ” I want to be  a singer said Bhappida.

Hearing to that Kishoreda jumped from his seat/chair above, purposely took a sommersualt , made him to fall onto the floor, got up and in a very kind of acting that he did on the film of PADOSAN, started rubbing his head, scrathing his hair, rubbing his part of the body saying that- “ NOSHTOH HOYE GALO” JAA SOB KICHU GALO which means DESTRUCTED, EVERYTHING DESTRUCTED , OH!! , EVERYTHING GONE AND GONE FOR EVER.

Antics Of Kishoreda-:

This man was made of a different character and he was full of PRANKS when his mood ordered him to be. That pranks one-by-one slowly started coming out and the one to take it for all was Mrs Bansuri Lahiri, the mother of Bhappida that day. Being his younger sister and having pranked her during  her young days, that YOUNG day’s prank came out in full and it was in it’s full flow. He ws at times acting as if the TEARS were flowing out of his eye, at times like his head ws on the SWIRL at other as if he suffered a HEART ATTACK. All these when he heard that Bhappida wanted to be a singer in the film industry.

The acts whent on and on and on till Mrs Bansuri Lahiri sarted crying and praying with her folded hand that Kishoreda should take her words seriously. No sooner that he  heard that she wanted Kishoreda to be serious he again started all the serious acts of his film Padosan to behave and act that he was really getting serious to find out the answer and the solution of what Bhappida should be. WELL THEN CAME THE REAL SERIOUS TIME.

The eldest of all Mr Askok Kumar  when he heard that the Lahiri family had come to Kishoreda’s place he arrived at GAURI-KUNJ the house that belonged to Kishoreda and he met his sister as well as his JAMAI-BABU. It was then and there that Kishoreda seeing his  eldest brother at the scene really became serious but the tears were rolling out of the eye of Mrs Bansuri Lahiri. When enquired by Askoh Kumar ie Dadamoni the matter became quite even and the chinks were sorted out.

It was here that Kishoreda made them and Mrs Bansuri  Lahiri o understand that- SINGER IN THE BOMBAY FILM INDUSTRT FOR A MALE OR A FEMALE WAS NOT EXISTING TILL HE, MOHAMMED RAFI SAHAB , LATADI AND ASHA TAI WERE ALIVE AND WOULD SING.

What was the other source then to be successful in the film industry for a new comer- he replied BHAPPI CAN TAKE UP TO MUSIC AND CAN WORK OUT TO BE SUCCESFUL.

Bhappi Lahiri forays into the World Of Music

Taking the clue and the right advise from Kishoreda Bhappi Lahiri made his mind to remain and stay at Mumbai and the other two SOUL left for Jalpaiguri. To start with to know the ESSENCE and the FLAVOUR of music Bhappida was put under Rahul Dev Burman only to learn  the trade and  the trick of music.

He learned it fast.That was in 1972. There was a movie being made and it’s name was “ EK LADKI BADNAAM SI ” . Ek Ladki Badnaam Si is an unreleased Hindi film starring Rehana Sultan which was censored in 1991. The Director of the film ws Dinesh Gautam.

He approached Kishoreda saying that he was making a film by this name and he had casted Rehana Sultan and Mahendra Sandhu along with Danny Dengzoppa as the casts in the film.

He made it very clear that he was in a state of CRUNCH  and that except paying the THREE singers Kishoreda, Latadi and Asha Tai, he would only make the payment to the others after the film has released and if it had collected the money from the film market. He then asked Kishoreda- DADA WOULD YOU LIKE TO PROVIDE THE MUSIC TO THE FILM AND THE SONG.

At this time Kishoreda and his BRILLIANT mind came into the action and the scene. He said – I HAVE A REALTIVE WHO IS NEW, KNOWS MUSIC HAS BEEN TRAINED UNDER PANCHAM BHAI AND THAT MAN COULD MAKE A BEAUTIFUL MUSIC FOR THE FILM AND ABOVE ALL HE WOULD BE CHEAP AND ECONOMICAL AS YOU ARE FACING THE MONEY CRUNCH NOW TO PAY. YOU CAN PAY HIM AFTERWARDS, I WILL MAKE HIM TO LISTEN TO ME AND YOU.

Having got that assurance Mr Dinesh moved ahead with his venture.

 Came August 4^th 1974 this song “ RAHAY NA RAHAT, HUM AUR TUM , KARWAA HAMARA HAMESHA RAHEGA ”……….  was recorded . That was the day when Kishorda was celebrating his 44^th birthday . Two more songs of this film was also recorded on that very day but on a different time.

MONEY CRUNCH HIT THE FILM PRODUCTION ::  FILM WENT INTO OBLIVION

Because of the cruch of the money and the means that could not collect the money the film could not be completed . It went into oblivion. The stars were NOT paid for their effort for the portion of the  film that was till then produced. Mahendra Sandu was the most to be on the CRUX of sufferance as he was pasiing a very bad time. Rehana Sultan was somehow better and as was Danny but Mahendra Sandhu was on the bed of like say DEATH as he was struggling to make his way end at Bombay then for a living.

Yet NONE CHOSE TO END THEIR LIFE . They all were waiting for the MOMENT to arrive as the MORROW has nothing to offer them. They NEVER thought of ending their life .

That song  RAHAY NA RAHAY was the FIRST of all the SONG that Bhappida provided the music for and HE WAS NOT PAID EVEN A SINGLE “ PIE ”

Kishoreda guided him for the music. To make it and him somewhat very confident and to take or EXTRACT out the VERY-BEST from Latadi in this song, he advised Bhappida to start with the FLAVOUR of the Late Mr Madan Mohan for Latadi to start her version and for him he advised Bhappida to throw some FLAVOUR of sachinda in the song and then immediately  put his own idea for the song as far as the music was concerned. Bhappida did that exactly.

This film was NOT released however the POLYDOR SANGEET DHARA at that time relayed to release the tracks of the song , ie ,  the songs of the film.

JUST LISTEN TO THIS SO “ EVERLASTING ” MEMORABLE SONG . It is JUST like a HEAVEN being created here on the earth, that is what you would feel.

THE “ DEAD ” FILM PROCUED AND GAVE THE “ BIRTH” TO ONE OF THE MOST ILLUSTRATIVE AND BEAUTIFUL MUSIC-DIRECTOR OF THE INDIAN FILM INDUSTRY.

I REQUEST , “ KINDLY ” listen to that song. Most of them about 90% of the entire generation of the YESTERYEARS and of TODAY’S MIGHT HAVE NOT heard this song.

Well that is it- that “ EK LADKI BADNAAM SI ”  made Bhappida a very FAMOUS musician of this film industry giving him a  “ NAAM-  ALAG-THALAG SANGEET NIRMATA ” .

The ONLY advise that TWO WORLD FAMOUS singers’  that they gave it to the new comer was that-:

 NEVER TAKE THE FILM INDUSTRY FOR GRANTED  AS YOUR OWN AND FOR GRANTED FOR ANYTHING . KEEP ON MOVING AHEAD IN THIS INDUSTRY. .

Well- that is it for Kishoreda’s birthday for today and this is a GIFT by me for the nation to hear that SONG which was a DIAMOND but was never put to the public as  a whole to enjoy.

I had FIRST heard this song in the VIVIDH BHARATI KA PANCHRANGI programme in 1974 and after many a RESEARCH I got the U Tube of the song  which I put it to the public to enjoy
