Perhaps it may be said , that there is no country in this
world which is absolutely free from superstition. This is the age of science
and scientific thinking are the process of the world and it is the science of
everything which now-a-days rules the roost. We think scientifically and try to
do as much as possible everything based on the scientific lines. That makes
Science a subject of encompassing us with our activities for our life and every
day’s life.
Generally we believe in the planetary movement and the planetary
motion and we have made the planets to take over and take us over with them in
life and this is where the philosophy of the superstition vcomes in life.
Everybody , be it anybody or anyone, in some stage or in some
other stage becomes a victim of superstition and becomes superstitious It is
said that superstition are mere irrational belief and irrational studies that
governs a man and his life.
Ignorant people ignorantly may fall to the belief of being superstitious, but then the mere fact is
superstition becomes a part of life at some or the other stage of life.
Inttelectuals and the intelligent people also fall to the
lines of being superstitious and in the belief of being superstitious and when
they do not have the confidence to face or meet a challenging situation do fall in for this
which we call it being superstitious or becoming superstitious.
Though superstition and being superstitious are universal, particularly
in India with it’s age old custom, and the tradition which abounds them, nobody
has ever raised any questions about why do they believe in superstition. Many
people wonder and laugh at being and at this usual and unruly behavior to fall
into the clutches and the grip of the superstition, but nobody prevents anybody
from being it.
Nobody so far has ever questioned the wits and the reasons of
falling for the superstitious stories, and the belief, the belief takes the
root in the immature mind and the ignorant too fall into the line and the belief of being
superstitious.
WHAT IS
SUPERTITION:: A BELIEF OR A “ MYTH ”
Superstition are the old aged and the long time old belief
which has rooted itself in the mind of the people. It runs here from the ages and from the centuries. It has taken a front seat in the
mind of the people and no-body is an exception.
These are just the belief and it may or might not carry or
have any apparent reason. This will have a basis or will never have a basis at
all. These have been carried from generation to generation and it seems that
there is no end to the same.
Some of the superstition belief has become a custom such that
these customs cannot be done away with now. Superstition are found and commonly
found at the rural level and say for an example those who are in the field or
the business of ploughing and farming, believe that the natural phenomenon like
the thunder, lightning, and the rains are the divine creations. Accordingly
they have created many and several Gods. Many superstitions are centered around the
rainfalls, harvest and the cattle’s.
There can be many an example but I would like to take the
other or the another one. The priest of the temple made the villagers to
believe god and they started telling that if at all any incurable disease
occurs, then , it is due to the fact that the God is angry and he is punishing
the one’s with his outburst of his temper.
There is no realtion between the God and the illness but then
those are the natural belief. There are many and there could be many to cite as
an example about the belief that ought and those were created for the people to
fall and believe in superstition. There have been many a natural phenomenon and
there are many which revolves around the eclipses that occur, the cooing of the
birds, the cry of the elephant or the Lion, the force of gravity, the cry of the dog, and
these phenomenon have been accepted by the people all over the world that these
have a effect on the human beings.
The Ancients ,
their AWE and their belief
Ancients looked at the life with awe and also with wonder. They
would believe in the supernatural forces These and many more and many different
thinking, ideologies and belief made the people to fall onto being
superstitious.
Many belief and thoughts have said that the superstition and
it’s principle and belief are baseless and thought wrecking process. However the people still believe in them and
believe it mostly because they are bounded by it.
Usually the men who do not have the necessary confidence to meet any challenge
or a challenging task fall onto the theory of being superstitious and then it
becomes a habit fro them to believe in it and follow it.
It may be recalled and said that the superstition affects the development of a country
if they are not properly understood.
Reasons of
being superstitious ::
There could be
many reasons that could be attributed but some of them are as follow-:
A ). Getting angry or being short tempered.
B ) . Terroristic event that one might have faced in life
C ) . A very strong belief in luck
D ) . Ignorance
D ) . Illiteracy
E ) . Fanaticism and failure in life
F ) . Faith in old aged tradition
G ) . Imperfect and illogical imagination
H ) . Belief in dreams and events of coincide
I ) . Any dreams or ambition that is NOT fulfilled.
There are many examples which could be cited but I have
chosen these few as these constitutes the main and the most important factors which goes in far to make
anybody superstitious. For example if
you see your shoes being robbed away from the door step of the temples or your slippers
robbed away, it is construed very good sign or if somebody approaches you with
water then also it is considered to be a sign of prosperity according to the
law of superstition.
If you see yourself eating MEAT, non-vegetarian food in your
dream or if you see yourself eating fruits or even sweet meats in your dream then it is construed a very good
sign as it is believed that MONEY is there waiting to comes to you in a heap
and in large measures. Well there are many but these are some again which I
have cited only as an examples.
Whether it is India, whether is is a nation abroad, every
nation has it’s own theory of being superstitious. There ought to be some thing , a body say or
maybe a media which ought to explain the good and the evil effect of the theory
of superstition.
The progress of the people are hurt when they become
superstitious in a large manner and hence the people should stay away from
becoming it.
PROGRESS IS HALTED IF ONE BECOME A VICTIM OF SUPERSTITION IN A LARGE
MANNER.
Well , that is it
