Jabalpur :: The “ MARBLE ” City with “ TREMENDOUS ” Vegetation and “ BEAUTIFUL ” Weather

There is a POEM about Jabalpur in Hindi which I'm jotting it here in English and it is - :

POEM-:

Neem Say Bhara Yeh Shahar
Yahan Gulistan Khoob Aur Koi Gum Nahin

Yeh Hai Hamara Jabalpur Shahar
Joh Kisi London Say Kum Nahin

One of the most beautiful place which cannot go off from my mind and from the breathe that I always inhale and exhale in the city of Jabalpur.

That is and there is " ONE- WORLD-FAMOUS - MARVEL " in this city which is known to the world as  CITY-OF-MARBLE and that is the BALANCING ROCK. Unless and until you see these BALANCING Rock at the entrance of Madam Mahal very near to the Netaji Subash Mediacal College you would NOT believe your eyes' about ythe same. Centuries together these ROCKS are stationed at that very place at Jabalpur and this could be TERMED as the MIRACLE-OF-THE-NATURE-OR-CREATION . This is the UNIQUENESS of this city names Jabalpur.

These rocks........ well if they and on the day, if they start rolling and falls, the villages and the localities situated near would VANISH but centuries to century and the passage of the time could not move these ROCKS at all and this makes the situation surprisingly very magical to think about the MAGIC of the nature that it has bestowed upon Jabalpur.

This was the city where I spent my life from July 18th 1972 when for the first time I landed in this city to be boarded for some times in the “ NEELAM HOTEL ” opposite “ COFFEE HOUSE ” just near the end of the KARAMCHAND CHOWK , and where from the eve of July 18th 1972 to April 30th 1976, I spend my the most youthful days to start with, where I was moulded into a kind of a MAN that I have ever been. The first class that I attended at the C.C.B.H.S.S., Jabalpur was on July 19th 1972, and the last was the day and the date April 30th 1976 when my connection with that School was chopped off as I had passed out my H.Sc exams .

July 19th 1972 was the date when I first attended my FIRST class at the CHRIST CHURCH BOYS’ HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, at Jabalpur and April 30th 1976 was the date when for the LAST TIME I was attached and connected to this city when my destiny took me to Nagpur, though I still whenever I find time make it a point to visit Jabalpur where not only my SOUL remains as it is attached to this beautiful city but where a LOT of my FRIENDS stay.

This is a city which always makes me to bow my HEAD to the THEE of Jabalpur for whatever Jabalpur has given me, and I would NEVER be able to repay the DEBT that I received it from Jabalpur. Though one  may NOT find this city as anywhere newar and equal to many of the BEST that exists at India, but for me JABALPUR IS AN EDEN HERE ON THE EARTH.

The Main ENVIRONMENT and the Geography of Jabalpur - ::

Jabalpur is a city in the State of Madhya Pradesh in India. In terms of the administrative importance , this city Jabalpur is the central office of Jabalpur District and Jabalpur range. Jabalpur is situated in the “ Mahakaushal ” region in the geographic centre of India, around 308 kilometres west of Bhopal, the state capital of Madhya Pradesh . Jabalpur is one of many most large cities in Madhya Pradesh. Jabalpur was the 27th biggest urban conurbation in India in 2001.

Jabalpur also houses the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The town itself dates from the nineteenth century. It includes a beautiful assortment of Marble Rocks called Bhedaghat bordering the holy Narmada River. Many visitors each year come to go to Jabalpur due to this major attraction.

The Holy River “ MAA- NARBADA ” Of Jabalpur

One of the most important feature of Jabalpur is the Holy River , which every Jabalpurian never forgets to worship is the river which the Jabalpurian call it as the SACRED –………  “ MAA NARMADA ” river .

Pic - : The Evening At The Gwarighat “ NARMADA ” , the River Being Worshipped

If you are visiting Jabalpur, just DO NOT miss paying a visit to the Gwarighat, . If you are at Jabalpur and if you fail to visit the Gwarighat specially during the evening when the AARTI POOJA is held to pay the REGARDS to the River Narmada, you would not really enjoy the serene and the scenic of Jabalpur at all in terms of the DIVINITY and the SERENITY of Jabalpur because nothing seems to be more beautiful than the scene that this puja offers to anybody at Jabalpur.

The Name Jabalpur-: JABALI-THE-SAGE-GAVE-IT.

Many , many and many years ago, a ARABIAN trader by the name of Jabali landed at Jabalpur with DATE PALMS and the MUSLINS to sell here at  Jabalpur. While going back he took the marbles, it’s chips and the spices that Jabalpur could offer. So fascinated ws Jabali that he made a few more trip lest one fine day he landed at Jabalpur then, and started residing near the Gwarighat.

Every evening he would visit the place at Gwarighat and watch the evening pooja , ie the worship that the people them did it for River Narmada everyday. Jabali wanted to himself perform the pooja but since he was a Muslim or an Ismaic, he was not allowd to do so. He again went back to Arab, brought all his wealth here, and he purchased a huge big piece of land. One fine day he gave up ISLAM and converted into a HINDU and became a sage. HE WAS PRONUNCED AS JABALI BABA .

Absolutely impressed by the Hinduism and it’s method of prayers etc offered to the dieties especially the Rivers and the River narmada he slowly started preaching all about the DIVINITY and the River Narmada became his soul for the same to preach and teach about the river and the Hindu dieties. From JABALI BABA he became a famous SAGE and then he purchased many more lands in and around the Gondwana area of Jabalpur which was named as JABALIPURA which means full and whole of Jabali that belongs to Jabali and thereafter when the Britishers took this place it became JUBBALPORE and later after Independence it was christened as JABALPUR . .It is thus and it is how JABALPUR derieved it’s name from JABALIPURA to Jabalpur.

Jabalpur, it’s position and it’s location-:

Positioned at the middle of the State of Madhya Pradesh in India, Jabalpur District, is one of the most famous cities in the State. It’s situated in the ’ Mahakaushal ’ Region of the State and gets its name from history being the native land of the fantastic ’Jabali Rishi ‘. The holy Narmada river flows through the District, which is the major drinking tap water source for the District. There is just a multipurpose Bargi Dam ’Project on this river.

.Every city has something unique to offer and that is why it becomes famous. So is the case with Jabalpur. Known world-over for  the “ MARBLE ROCK ” and the “ DHUANDHAAR ”  waterfalls, the tourist site ‘ Bhedaghat ’ is also located in the District. The ‘Madan Mahal fort can also be visited which is very close and near to the NETAJI SUBASH MEDICAL COLLEGE at Jabalpur and is  situated in the District.

Jabalpur was the capital of the erstwhile GONDWANA region which at one point of a time was ruled by the Queen of the Gonds Maharani Durgawati. The centre of Jabalpur was the capital of the erstwhile old Gond rulers. It is not only an extensive ancient place, but it can be fabled for the Marble Rocks gorge on Narmada River, near it. It is one of many most large cities in the Indian State of Madhya Pradesh. The origin of Jabalpur dates back to old times.

The memoir of Jabalpur situated at  Madhya Pradesh is an important one. It’s undoubtedly one of the main cities of the State of Madhya Pradesh. It got its name from being the original land ofGREAT Rishi Jabali of whom I have described earlier

Does not it surprises all that a ISLAMIC believing citizen from the world of Arab, became a HINDU SAGE and gave JABALPUR to Indian and Madhya Pradesh. . The town was the capital of the Gond rulers. In ancient times, it was called Tripuri beneath the governance of The Hayahaya rulers

It was then identified as Tripuri and was ruled by Hayahaya rulers. The ancient Indian epic of Mahabharata has recommendations to his city. It converted a portion of the fabulous Mauryan and the Gupta Empires. In ad 875, it had been taken over by the Kalchuri administration who made Jabalpur their resources. In the 13th century, the Gonds grabbed it and managed to get their money. By the early 16th century, it had ended up being the mighty kingdom of Gondwana. From period to period, the Mughal emperors tried to occupy it

The traditional Gond Queen Rani Durgavati died fighting the Mughal troops led by the BLOOD-DYED-TYRANT whom our history calls him  genuinely marvellous Mughal Emperor Akbar. It eventually came to the Marathas in 1789 and was absorbed by the British in 1817, when they outnumbered the Marathas in a battle near Panagar while annexing it to their rule and the boundary. A DWAR ie the VICTORY GATE still stands at Panagarh and one who enters Jabalpur from Katni by bus will pass through this entry gate .That is the gate that actually was erected by the Britishers during that time to ener Jabalpur though now the city has changed and there are a few more points where you can enter Jabalpur .Anyway the Britishers had defeated the Marathas while annexing Jabalpur

The Britishers converted this city then into a huge big Military base for them and now that you see the SADAR area of Jabalpur where the Military campus of the Corp Of Signal lies is the one which and where the Britishers had their military campus then when they ruled Jabalpur.. The British made Jabalpur the command bases of the Narmada regions and placed a cantonment here.

.Jabalpur also has many to do with the traditional Hindu method of performing the Poojas, ie the worship everyday and at some important places. There is also the Mala Devi Mandir that was built in the 12th century. It’s some of the most significant carved stone figures of deities owned by the time scale of the Kalachuris. An area Legend says that the ancient temple is linked to the palace of Queen Durgavati via an underground passage.

Tilwaraghat is a very important religious place and it also serves it’s coonection with the Indian history. It is the site from where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were buried in the Narmada . That apart the venue of the open assembly of the Tripuri Congress in 1939; the 12th century Mala Devi Mandir; Pisan Hari Jain Temples and Roopnath are a some of the other areas in and about Jabalpur. Bhedaghat, The Tiny village of Jabalpur tehsil located on the lender of river Narmada and widely fabled for its marble rocks, is at a distance about 21 Km from Jabalpur by the street.

The mighty marble rocks by the Narmada River giving new meanings to the lives of Bhedghat and Jabalpur!

The marble artistry of Bhedaghat

The quaint town of Bhedaghat in Jabalpur district is popular with tourists for its misty Dhuandhar fall and colossal marble rocks. Another thing that equally attracts the tourists from all over the world is the incredible craft of marble sculpting that this place has to offer. Marble and stone moulding is a full-fledged business here. The sculptors shape the astonishing white marble into intricate deities and other quirky sculptures. Stones found in the bed of Narmada provide occupation to many carvers and their families.

One can easily get souvenirs from the rows of stalls selling carved artefacts such as the statues of Shiva and Ganesha including other exquisite decorative items. While walking along the shopping streets and ghats, one can witness carvers at work, busy making the masterpieces.

If you are on a visit to Jabalpur, do not forget to visit the Bhadaghat's Dhuandhar fall, marble rocks and shop marble handicrafts for your family and friends .

well, Jabalpur is FAMOUS for TWO other  elements that relates and connects it to the human health. The FIRST is the WEATHER- so beautiful and so evenly spaced and paced, and the SECOND is the VEGETATION- so nourishing and pure vegetables, very tasty .....

Unless and until you have lived at Jabalpur and have felt it's weather beside tasting the recipe made out of those vegetables,  YOU HAVE NOT TASTED  " LIFE "  AND THE taste THAT JABALPUR OFFERS.
