It was the month of December 1975
when in the first week then, of December, my Father was transferred to Kamptee
Colliery, which is situated at a distane of 40 Kms from Nagpur, andf it was the
month of May exactly from may 1st 1976 I, individually became a
citizen of Maharashtra, first, and then Nagpur as Nagpur from then became my permanent address till on May 16th 1995 I shifted my base for my Pasteur
and living to Bangalore but Nagpur it is and Jabalpur which I consider myself
to be for all rather than Bangalore though Bangalore has GIVEN me everything
that a human being wishes to have it for him in this world.
Nagpur my home town ,as I am not born here, but BREEDED and BROODED here... will always have a soft corner in my Heart, in-fact I
believe everyone’s hometown has soft corner in their heart... doesn’t matter
how big or small the place is and so is with me.
I graduated from the Nagpur
University and completed my Post –graduation from the same place in Business
Administration ( M.B.A) and I started my job and career from Nagpur with the dailies which one calls it “
HITAVADA ” in 1981.That was my first job
in my career.
Nagpur : Synonym
To Many A Name
Nagpur has many names.... What should we call it Tiger capital, Orange city or Green city?
Anyway what’s there in the name said Shakespeare!!! However Nagpur is known and
is recognized by it’s WORLD-FAMOUS-ORANGES and hence Nagpur is known as the ORANGE
CITY.
From being a city which was very laid back with an old approach,
this city has become the HERAT-THROB amongst all the cities that the Central
India could be and today Nagpur ois one and amongst the BEST city of India with
many an added features

Nagpur infact had and has changed
so much that everything now seems to be very new and very modern.It use to be
ethical and skeptical for any changes then, it is one of the most modern city
of Maharashtra, at this moment. Nagpur had a total make over in this for some years; it has become a beautiful city
out of one’s imagination, broad and smooth roads and lot of greenery all
around, and one of the most cleanest and safest City in India.

Nagpur city was founded in the
early 18th century by Bhakt Buland,
a Gond prince of the kingdom of Deogad in the Chhindwara district. It remained with them for so many a years lest
it was passed on to the Bhosle’s and very soon,
Nagpur, became the capital of the Bhonsles with the Bhonsle dynasty. In 1853 last generation of Bhonsles died
without an heir to his kingdom. As a result, the city lapsed into British
control under Lord Dalhousie's Doctrine of Lapse.

In 1861, Nagpur became the capital of the Central Provinces. After Indian Independence,
Nagpur became the capital of Madhya
Bharat state (C.P. and Berar). In 1960, the Marathi majority Vidarbha
region was merged with the new state of Maharashtra.

Nagpur City, the second capital of
Maharashtra, is at the geographical centre of the country, and in a way for
many a points and factor taken , it is the Heart
of India. Nagpur has been adjudged the second greenest city of the
country. It is also famous as “ Orange
City ” owing to the production of the succulent fruit.
Orange City is famed for its laid-back lifestyle and it always
lives up to this reputation! Everyone knows everyone, and a kind of easy
informality arises out of such close contacts. Nagpur as a city used to be a city where
everybody would be in touch with everybody that resided in that city but of
late that trend slowly seems to DIMINISH. This city is a city, which is one of the few, which enjoys the

along with the pleasures of a large, well spread-out town still in an
idyllic and unhurried state of mind.

Railway Station, , Shri Balaji Temple (Seminary Hills) , Shri
Ramdeobaba Temple, Sarveshwar Temple (Ram Nagar), Kashibai Temple of Bhonsle
Period and not to FORGET the SAI BABA TEMPLE on the Wardha Road near to the
Hindustan Colony, . Nagpur can also be said as a city of temples.
For history loving people, Nagpur has a lot to offer and there’s
a lot of architectural beauty to capture in your camera like High Court
Building, RBI building, Vidhan Bhavan, Deeksha Bhoomi, The Sitabuldi Fort etc

Talk of
the swwet and the savouries you cannot live withouit mentioning the ………“ ANANDA
BHANDAR ” at SITABURDI, and just beside it the “ HALDIRAM BHUJIYAWALA ” the TWO
famous places where you can enjoy the best of the sweets and at ONE point of a
time the “ RAJBHOG ” of Ananda Bhandar was the HEART BEAT of Nagpur along with
the “ MISHTI DOI ” .Within the passage of the time that RAJBHOG of Ananda
Bhandar has gone but the MISHTI DOI remains.
For foodies Saoji food is the specialty of Nagpur so don’t miss it if
you are here, its spicy and oily but you have to try it once. Haldiram’s Sweets is icing on the cake fresh
and mouth-watering don’t miss it.
For a laid back and a relaxed evening, there’s no better option
than Clubs in Nagpur, but one need to be a member of the club or the affiliated
clubs.
Nagpur is
a perfect blend of Rural and urban civilization, old and
modern thinking, it caters to everyone’s taste and preferences. But if you want
to enjoy Nagpur to the fullest you need to have a localite here as it not a
touristy place.
The best time to visit Nagpur is from October to February, when the
weather is pleasant and conducive enough to enjoy sightseeing with the
temperature during this time falling up to 10°C. During the summer season, from
March to June, the climate is extremely hot, with temperature rising up to
49°C. The hot weather is not suitable to explore the place hence avoid visiting Nagpur during summer
season. Although in the monsoon months between July and September
Nagpur receives medium to heavy rainfall and the temperature falls
significantly, outdoor activities are not possible hence avoid visiting Nagpur
during monsoon months as well.
Being a Nagpurian I have a very special place for Nagpur in my heart, I have seen lot many places but never seen a place so EVEN, SO COOL and so PLEASANT like Nagpur. If somebody even asks me to or give an idea to leave this city my heart stops pumping, it’s like my life blood and cannot stay without it yet I have to because my BREAD-ANDS-BUTTER brought me here and I had to settle here at Bangalore .
Nagpur is well-known for its diverse and rich culture and background. The people in this city normally use the language Hindi and Marathi. Besides, all the festivals and cultures are abided by or celebrated with extreme joy and contentment.
Numerous
cultural occasions are going on in the city, conducted by literary societies.
Some glorious folk-dances and fairs are arranged in Nagpur. Thus, this city
appeals to a huge number of visitors with its charm and beauty.
The
famous places like Gavilgad Fort also play an important role in attracting more
visitors. This city is also popular for its purely natural Salt Lake, i.e., Lonar Lake. It is considered to hold third place in the list of natural salt
lakes throughout the world.
Nagpur is also well recognized for its mouth-watering delicacies
amongst which, “ POHA ” takes the top spot. The name of Poha in Nagpur is
different that is “ Tarri Poha ”.
Nagpur
is widely famous for the festival celebration, like the Ramjanam Rath Yatra and
Marbat. People across the globe enjoy these festivals. Therefore, travelling to
Nagpur during this season is very pleasant and filled with enjoyment.
Besides,
the festival Marbat is primarily celebrated only by the people residing in the
Nagpur region.
