National Science Day  - February 28 :: A National Day For celebration Of Success Of Science At India

Rashtriya Vigyan Evam Prodoyogiki Sanchar Parishad (RVPSP) (National Council for Science & Technology Communication) of the Ministry of Science and Technology celebrates National Science day (NSD) to popularise the benefits of scientific knowledge and practical appropriation.

National Science Day is held to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect. On February 28, 1928, Sir CV Raman discovered Raman Effect for which the Physicist was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930 .

Actually in the WORLD-OF-SCIENCE , it is believed that Dr C.V.Raman and his work that he did it for the RAMAN - EFFECT that related to the work that he diod on the matters of " LIGHT " was the point which is considered as the " PIONEER" to completely change the dynamic of Science and it's work towards the discoveries of many an innovation which it brought to the field of Science .

Raman gave the theory of Raman Effect for which he won the Nobel Prize in 1930. He became the first Indian and the first Asian to win the prestigious award. He was also awarded Bharat Ratna in 1954 for his contribution to science mainly Physics. Raman Effect is a change of wavelength exhibited by some of the radiation scattered in a medium. The effect is specific to the molecules which cause it, and so can be used in spectroscopic analysis. In other words, we can say when light passes through a transparent material, some of the deflected light changes wavelength and amplitude.

Raman also developed an instrument "Raman Spectroscopy" for observing the vibrational, rotational and other low-frequency modes in a system. For the first time, Raman showed conclusively that the colour of the sea was blue because water molecules scattered sunlight. The sea's blue because sunlight was split into its spectrum of colours by molecules in the air. The only colour reflected by the water and that finally reaches our eyes is blue.

Primary Purpose Of Celebrating The National science day - ::

The primary purpose of celebrating National science day is to spread the message of the importance of science and its applications in everyday life among people. In 1986 when the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) asked the Central Government to celebrate February 28 as National Science Day. The National Science Day was first celebrated on February 28, 1987. For the past 34 years, we have been celebrating this day as a remembrance of Raman's's contribution to science.

Various activities are organised on the day, like debates, quiz competitions, exhibitions, lectures, in which college students, school students and teachers too participate. Every year a different theme is selected and all the forth programmes and activities are based around that theme.

The National Science Day is observed to mark the discovery of the 'Raman Effect' by the physicist Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman, well-known as CV Raman. He was born on November 7, 1888, in Tamil Nadu then it was a Madras Province.
As mentioned earlier , this day is celebrated to honour the Nobel laureate- Sir C.V. Raman for his invention of the ‘Raman effect’ on 28th February 1928.

Government of India  :: Rapid on anything for development on Science to develop India

When was the day declared as National Science Day? In 1986, the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) asked the Government of India to designate 28 February as National Science Day which the then Govt. of India accepted and declared the day as National Science Day in 1986.

Ever since this Government came into power it has always penetrated itself into making most of the advantage that it can take  through the various changes in terms of development that Science as a subject can bring to make India a global power. The Chandrayan project was the major step in that direction and more and more changes through the I-T and Information’s through it’s technology especially the DIGITAL INDIA movement has brought in a great revolution to change India and take it to a more greater path of development and power is what the Science is doing to India to make it a global super power.

To celebrate the World Science Day, UNESCO generally organizes and alike every year  it organizes  an online roundtable on the theme of Science for and with Society in dealing with COVID-19 ”.

By linking science more closely with society, World Science Day for Peace and Development aims to ensure that citizens are kept informed of developments in science. It also underscores the role scientists play in broadening our understanding of the remarkable, fragile planet we call home and in making our societies more sustainable.

Well , that is it and That sums it all.

Regards and Thanks
