Inam - Ur - Rehman :: The " DON QUIXOTE " The Man Who Completely Changed The Face Of Indian Hockey

If I had to be a selfish buggar, I would not have been writing this piece about a man  WHO SINGLE HANDEDLY CHANGED THE FACE OF INDIAN HOCKEY.

Before I could move ahead with this piece, I would like to pay my DEEPEST and the HUMBLEST words as a TRIBUTE to this SOUL  which stands as follow-:

" If Tears Could Build A Staircase,

And Memories A Lane,

I'd Walk Right Up To Heaven

And Bring You Home Again " .

Time has changed and everybody has become selfish so why shouldn’t I. That is the question ? . However when I feel that I’m writing a book -

“ From DHYAN To DHAN::Indian Hockey  - Sudden Death Or Extra Time ”  which is about 75 % complete, I feel that why should I write everything that I wish to write about Hockey in this blog page. Who would read my book then if I as a writer, write  everything that I wish to write about  Hockey in my blog page.

Pic - :: Inam Holding the BEST PLAYER AWARD of the  All India Jawaharlal Nehru  Hockey Tournament Of The Year 1971 After Beating Great Britain Olympic Side by 2-0 in the finals

Yet I write because  IF I DO NOT WRITE THIS PIECE TODAY ON NOVEMEBR 22ND 2021 ON HIS AND THIS MAN’S BIRTHDAY I WOULD BE DOINGA GREAT AMOUNT OF INJUSTICE TO HUMANITY THOSE WHO ARE ASSOCIATED WITH INDIAN HOCKEY AND HOCKEY IN PARTICULAR

I have written so many a piece in Hockey on my blog page which are so informative that it would keep the readers spell bound. If the readers read the blog pages, who would read the book that is the question.  HOWEVER THE KND OF INFOS THAT I POSSESS IN HOCKEY IN MY BOOK WRITTEN BY ME WOULD BE SO DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE’S THAT I’M WRITING ABOUT HOCKEY IN MY BLOG PAGE . Well that inspires me to write on Hockey here once again.

In short Inam-Ur-Rehman is the player WHO CHANGED THE ENTIRE FACE OF INDIAN HOCKEY THAT WAS PUNJAB DOMINATED TO THE INDIAN AIRLINES DOMINATION.

It took Pataudi, Wadekar, Mohinder Amarnath, Gavaskar, Vishvanath, Durranni, Solkar, Prasanna , Vishvanath , these NINE cricketers to change the face of Indian cricket,  BUT IT TOOK ONLY ONE MAN , INAM – UR – REHMAN TO CHANGE THE FACE OF INDIAN HOCKEY

That is the GREATNESS of this man.

Well, how did he changed it, what is the real story behind it- if you all want to know and read all about these, wait for my Hockey book to be released by 2022 . You will come to know all about that but for now, what ever I have written is just enough for you all to know about Inam – Ur – Rehman who could be described as the DON QUIXOTE of Indian Hockey.

Inam’s Greatness, But Completely Demolished By I.H.F And Political Circle  - ::

Inam-Ur-Rehman actually for most of the time played as an Inside-Left beside in the other position as Inside Right,( For Bijlighar, Bhopal & Aligarh Muslim University) Outside Right( For Bhopal Junior XI )  as well as Outside Left ( for Mohun Bagan and I.H.F India “ B “ ) . He was a class apart in all the other four positions that he played except the Inside Left as he himself had told me that Mohammed Shahid was the BEST EVER who played in that position. Inam had a brain which could beat either the LEOPARD, a LION, a TIGER or a FOX when it boiled to Hockey and if that was implied to or if that was compared to Hockey .

His entire LIFE and career was POLITICISED by the FUNKS-AND-DUNGS of Indian Hockey. What a GEM was he to Indian Hockey which wasted him like anything and that is INDIAN HOCKEY for you.

His Famous Dialects- ::

“ TUM AGAR MERE KOH AUR MERE KHILADIYON KOH NAHI MAROGE TOH MAI BHI KUCH TUMKOH NAHI MARUNGAA AUR NAHI TOH MAI BAHUT HUNAR RAKHTAA HOON MAAR PEET MAI ” .

Well this lines means that if you do not hit me on the ground and do not hit my players then I also will not retaliate or else I’m a MASTER in all acts of being a rogues .Why these words by Inam, well wait for my book to release and that book on Hockey the FIRST by me on Hockey will really send the heads that reads it in swirls and by spin .

Well his birthday actually is on November 20th , but the Google says it as November 23rd and this confusion has put me in a quandary lest I got it clarified by Inam Bhai himself  to insert this article today .

People believe Google blindly, but then what Inam Bhai had asserted me about himself about his birth-date, then all I would like to say is DO NOT BELIEVE AT THE SKIN THAT GLOWS, LOOK INSIDE IT FOR SEEING THE REALITY.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY INAM BHAI .

That has been Inam – Ur – Rehman , always on the wrong side for no fault of his, be his career or be his self Bio –Data.

This article is just a TRIBUTE from my end to ONE of the BEST EVER GREATEST Hockey player of India.

One who wishes to knpw more about this magnanimous player, can read my book " FROM DHYAN TO DHAN - INDIAN HOCKEY :: SUDDEN DEATH OR EXTRA TIME " which has been published and which is available on Amazon and Flipkart and one can buy it through these two agencies.

That is it

Regards and Thanks

    1. Definitely YES. Your observation is 100% correct. If Inam-Ur-Rehman was played by India along with balbir Singh Grewal of the Western railways from 1968 Olympics to 1973 World Cup- WE WOULD HAVE WON ALL THE TOURNAMENTS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT?. They should have been played CONSISTENTLY without any break and India would have won every title that was to be played between 1968 to 1973.Regards Shyamal Bhattacharjee

  2. First- this great Hockey player was strangulated by the fancies and the cruel whims of the Indian mentality and the useless brains of the Indian sports and administrators.
Inam was perhaps ONE of the SIX greatest ever Indian Hockey player that was born. The other were Major Dhyanchand, K D Singh Babu, Shankar Laxman, Balbir Singh Grewal, and Captain Roop Singh .
Infact we are somewhat a fanatic Hockey enthusiast and we would like the author to come out with his book that he has mentioned here on Indian Hockey.

He single handedly completely changed the face of Indian Hockey , and but for Inam, we would not have had the fortune to see the Indian Airlines hockey team ever, if Inam did not form that team. It did wonders all around not only eher at India but over the world.
