December 23rd 2021- NATIONAL FARMERS' DAY :: Needs Improvement For Productivity And Profitability Of Our Operations
This article is DEDICATED with DEEP REGARDS and UTMOST honour to those who work in ACRES and NEVER in terms of HOURS.
Actually it is said that the FARMERS are the one's who are the SOUL in terms of " ANNADAATA " .It has to be seen in the perspective that ANNA means food grain and DAATA means as equal to GOD. Hence the FARMERS who provide us the means of LIFE in terms of providing us the foodstuff are as good as GOD.
This is and this has to do with the birthday of the Late Prime
Minister Mr Chaudhury Charan Singh who was for a very short stint of the was the
Prime Minister of India.
This day is also celebrated to give him the due honour as a
Farmer as he was a farmer and the FIRST amongst the Farmer to
become the Prime Minister of India.
National Farmers’ Day- :
The National Farmers Day is commemorated each year on the first
Friday of December to honour our gallant Farmers and Fishers. Though this day
December 23rd is the Birthday of the late Prime Minister, Mr
Chaudhury Charan Singh, this day has been modified a bit to add the fisheries
to it and this day actually is celebrated as the Farmer’s Day as well as the
fishery day, to give importance to both the sector on an equal footing. The
event acknowledges the vital position Farmers and Fishers occupy in the nations
socio-economic development. This is how it is celebrated at India
and also at some other places in the world where they give a due importance
especially to the fishing industry.
In particular, Ghana acknowledges farmers and fishers untiring
efforts at feeding the growing
population, providing raw materials to the nation’s industries, and
contributing substantially to the nation’s foreign exchange earnings.
There are certain programme that is included to celebrate this
day and I shall lay down the importance as such-::
The
programme of activities usually planned for the celebration include:
A National Farmers Forum at which the Award Winners are expected
to interact with policy makers and experts on some technological advances in
the agricultural sector and also make their views known..
Prizes are awarded to deserving farmers and fishers in order of
best practices and outputs.
The Ministry has noted with pride interest shown by some
organizations/institutions in agriculture and the linkage they provide to
Farmers and Fishers by ensuring the availability of either credits, inputs for
production or processing of produce to reduce post-harvest losses.
Besides, their continuous support of Farmers’ Day has enabled
the Ministry to enhance the quality and quantity of prizes presented to the
Award Winners.
It is in furtherance of this partnership that the Ministry
recognizes and invite them to be major sponsors of the National Farmer’s Forum.
The category of sponsorship is listed below and benefits
attached are enjoyed by them.
(i) Major Partner = GH¢10,000 and above
(ii) Diamond Sponsor = GH¢5,000 and above

These are the kind of prizes that is and that has been
instituted by the Government of Ghana for them and this could be a LEAD for the
national Government to annually award and confer some prize to the Farmers so
that a National interest is sown as a seed by the Government to highlight the
farming industry that does some good job to be conferred as the important and
valuable farmer beside propelling the youth to come forward and take farming as
a main profession as well because with the time to come the farming sector ought to modernized, technologized, and
made or could be made an industry where it would not only yield the support for the life to sustain it but would also recruit certain life in it's arena for job creation as
an industry.
A sort of a revolution in terms of modernizing this industry
could change the scenario of the industry and could make it as a forefront industry
that could revitalize the Indian economy as well by it’s tall contribution.
Activities of the Farmer’s day at India-:
During the celebration, exhibition is mounted by institutions
and individuals to show case and share new ideas on technological developments
in the agricultural sector in line with our resolution to apply science and
technology to modernize our agricultural landscape.
This culminates in the improvement of productivity and
profitability of our operations by making follow-ups as regards these new
ideas.
Well this is all about the day and let us PRAY and WISH
that the farming and the fishing sector in India once again arises up and
reaches its ultimate glory under the sun as well as the moon.
That is it
Regards and Thanks
