Shocking Yet True :: Swami Vivekananda , K.D.Singh Babu, And Major Dhyanchand They Really Played Cricket
Might sound so unusual.
It might go to prove that the author who is writing this is an INSANE with all his brain gone
to the place which could be termed as spittoon
box or a septic tank . . Yet some of the TRUTHS needs
many many and many more years to write it with all the necessary proof placed
for the people to read and feel AMAZED, or maybe EXCITING .
This is what my blog page stands for and this is what I feel to do in my blog
page.
Amazing, to describe, and some job
which really would sparkle are some of the things that everybody wishes and
does it and in that matter I’m no different. This article is all about the
same.
Swami Vivekananda Plays cricket ? Can anybody believe that ? . Would you believe that.
Two Hockey GEMS of India and WIZARDS ,
Major Dhyanchand and Kunwar Digvijay Singh Babu played cricket to horne their
Hockey skill. OH !!!!!! goodness, playing Cricket to horn and sharp their
Hockey skill ?. MAD IS IT- MAD HE IS , INSANE OF THE FIRST ORDER is what the people might
think.!!. Is is not ?. But this is true and the pictures posted here actually
proves it right and me VERY TRUE for the facts written.
Narendranath Dutta
Alias Swami Vivekananda Played Cricket To . ?????. !! ..
Swami Vivekanada was the name given to him by Ramakrishna
Paramhamsaha , his teacher, his philosopher, his guru. His actual name was Narendranath Dutta.
Today we see the Edens Gardens. Many a years ago in 1880
that ground so big in shape and probably
ONE OF THE BEST CRICKETING GROUND that rocks the world, then in the 1880 was a ground where on the non
weekend days, people would gather there with their families to spend a beautiful
evening engaged in a sort of picnic. However on the holidays, that very place
would see many a kids playing either Football or cricket as the case would be.
That very ground between 1880 and 1888 saw many cricket
tournament being played over there on a one day basis. Slowly it turned out to be what we call it as EDENS GARDENS
Between the time when
Narendra Dutta, alias Swami Vivekanada was crossing the age of 16 and entering
17, he registered himself with the Town Club, Calcutta, then and he played a
match for them against the Cricket Club of Calcutta , which then was even known
by the name of C.C.I Calcutta.
A left arm tweaker, Narendranath Dutta alias Swami
Vivekananda took seven ( 07 ) wickets in
that innings in that game for his club. His bowling action is depicted here for
the readers to see it as a proof. Just watch his action, after the delivery is
bowled, ie, his follow through. Look into his eye pinned on the flight of the
ball. That is what was he as a cricketer, as a bowler ?...... That should give
you an imagination of what was he as a cricketer. !! . !!
After playing some games for Town Club, then, Narendra Dutta completely gave up playing
cricket. The reason was THIS IS A GAME THAT SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED AT ALL IN A
COUNTRY LIKE INDIA. It completely wastes and damages your time, and puts the
entire day into a loss. A country like India cannot afford to do that as that will put the Indians and his
day for that day behind by 24 hours, he said.
A NATION THAT WILL PLAY THIS
GAME WILL NEVER BE SUPERFLOUS, HE REMARKED.
ON THE CONTARARY HE
SAID- IF FOOTBALL IS PLAYED BY ANYBODY HE MIGHT ATTAIN " SALVATION " , HE STATED, AND
FOOTBALL IS THE GAME ONE SHOULD PLAY .
Strange- we boast and talk about following his principles.
No sooner that there is an election, all the leaders are seen talking and
boasting about to follow his principles. STRANGE- NOBODY FOLLOWS HIS PRINCIPLES
ON CRICKET.
Pic-:: Major Dhyanchand In A Club Cricket match Against The Bradman Team At Australia
Major Dhaynchand Played Cricket To Horne his DRIVES
It would surprise
many and many would not believe that. Dhyanchand during the off-season at times
played cricket. He never would put on the gloves on for playing the game. He would
bat without donning the gloves.
During the Australian tour of India Hockey team , with Major Dhyanchand
leading India, then, Donald Bradman heard about this man. The Indian Hockey
team was to play a match at Queensland ,
Australia and there was a match that was to be played between Queensland and Tasmania and Donald
Bradman listening to or hearing to that Dhyanchand was there at Queensland to
play a game, went to meet him. Dhyanchand was very pleaed to meet him.
During the conversation, Bradman asked him- DO YOU PLAY CRICKET ? . Only
a few games at the off-season just to horne my drives in Hockey, relied Dhyanchand .Bradman could
not believe that. He just asked him to play a few shots so that he could see
and believe that. Agreeing upon, Bradman took Dhyanchand to a cricketing field
nearby and asked him to pad on. He was surprised to see Dhyanchand not donning
the batsman gloves. CRICKET SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED WITHOUT DON- NING THE GLOVES said Bradman as that is against the rules and the law of
the game. Dhyanchand replied that I do not play professional cricket and I do
not need to wear the gloves and so I do not wear that.
Mr Mahendra Singh Dhoni- CRICKET SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED WITHOUT DON- NING THE GLOVES said Bradman and PLEASE remember the T-20 World Cup cricket about what did you do against Bangladesh in that match to win that match by unfair mean ? You are a overbilled UNETHICAL cricketer Mr Dhoni . .
Well, Bradman asked Johnston who was a first change bowler
after Ray Lindwall and Keith Miller for the Australian team to bowl to Dhyanchand . He asked Johnston
to bowl to Bradman and the first ball Dhyanchand faced, he cover drove Johnston
which amazed Bradman. He was surprised to see that the first ball that
Dhyanchand faced, of that Aussie Test cricketer, he drove him with the meat of the bat hitting
the ball so correctly and perfectly.
“ YOU SCORE THE
GOALS AS FAST IN HOCKEY, AS I SCORE MY
RUNS THAT FAST IN CRICKET ”
Dhyanchand till the end of his life considered that
compliment from Bradman as the BEST-EVER that he received from any
International sportsman.

K.D.Singh Babu ::
Received A Hockey Stick As A Gift When " TWO " , ( 02 ) Years Of Age , Won TWO Olympic
Gold
Would you believe me when I say that the picture that you
see here is of Kunwar Digvijay Singh Babu . He is the ONLY Indian to win the
HELMS award , which was instituted for the Helsinki Olympics in 1952 to be
awarded to the BEST OLYMPIAN and the BEST ASIAN OLYMPIAN for the 1952 Olympics
that was played at Helsinki.
At the age of two , his parents, out of the sheer love and
affection for him gifted a Hockey stick which was made of plastic and a rubber
ball.
He started playing with it everyday at and on his verandah at
Barabanki, near Lucknow at his ancestral house. When 16 he made it to the
Indian team for Afghanistan and scored the HIGHEST, a total of 39 goals in that
tour for India.
K.D.Singh Babu at times played CRICKET at the nets with a
HOCKEY STICK. UNBELIEVABLE to
even think and feel about the same – but that is true.
Once when he was playing at Hyderabad for his Uttar Pradesh
team, M.L.Jaisimha who came to the field in 1954-55 saw him playing cricket
with a Hockey stick. Babu was middling all the deliveries bowled at him exactly at the mid of the stick and the ball use to be DEAD when he middle that.
Pic - The Paperclipping Of K.D.Singh Babu and his talks with M.L.Jaisimha
SURPRISED- Jaisimha
asked him, BABU HOW DO YOU DO THAT.
Even the BEST of the cricketers will never be able to do it that accurately, with the broad bat , the
way you are doing it with your stick. Middling the ball so accurately by the
bat is not possible and you are doing it with your hockey stick ? .
Jai- replied Babu, I at times go to the nets and play
cricket with my HOCKEY STICK. This I have
been doing it since 1940 to stop the penalty corners shot taken. I
always stop it with the mid of the stick, DEAD when I play Hockey and to horne
my skill, I ask the cricketers who are the bowlers to bowl me at the nets and I
stop the cricket ball DEAD with the stick, with the ball always hitting my
stick at the middle. This act of mine has helped me to stop – and - thwart all the penalty corners shot taken against
India in International matches that I play for India.
Here in the picture, that plastic Hockey stick, and the ball gifted to him on his second birthday is seen/ can be seen and the readers may see that .
K.D.Singh Babu was gifted this two elements of Hockey at the age of two, and he won TWO Hockey Olympics , Gold for India .If the WORLD WAR - II had not taken place , he would have ended winning FOUR in 1940, 1944, 1948 and 1952 with him leading the Indian Hockey team in 1948 and 1952.
Pic - : C.V.Walters Praising The Dribbling Skill And It's Art That K.D.Singh Babu Possessed
His dribbling was a POETRY in motion. After him if at all we saw that kind of a GRACEFUL dribbler, it was Ashok Kumar Dhyanchand and thereafter it was the MAGIC of all, the MAGICAL- DELIGHT, Mohammed Shahid who was discovered by K.D.Singh Babu when he was chosen to select a bunch of 22 Hockey players from the age between 13 to 17 to groom them at the Sports Hostel Lucknow between the period of 1976 to 1977 . .
When it came to dribbling, Major Dhyanchand was a MAGNET, K.D. Singh Babu was a CLASSICAL DELITE, Ashok Kumar was GRACEFUL and EYE-BITCHING and Mohammed Shahid was a MAGICAL DELIGHT. That was and those wee the FOUR pillars of Uttar Pradesh Hockey's GIFT to Indian Hockey.
Factors Of
Surprise-::
Still, even after almost 75 years of our Independence, it is
so very PAINFUL to see that Major Dhyanchand and K.D.Singh Babu have NOT been
conferred the BHARAT RATNA which both the EYES’ OF INDIAN HOCKEY strictly and
RICHLY deserve. Just imagine Donald Bradman complementing Dhyanchand the manner
in which he equalized and put Dhyanchand in the same place as the WORLD had put
Bradman as a sportsman , then, in the place where Bradman was considered to be the BEST
SPORTSMAN in the world.
Plainly speaking- WE DO NOT RESPECT AND CARE FOR OUR WORLD’S
BEST WHICH K.D. SINGH BABU AND DHYANCHAND WERE DURING THEIR PLAYING DAYS.
Both- K.D. Singh Babu and Major Dhyanchand deserve the BHARAT
RATNA and Captain Roop Singh deserves the Padma-ViBhushan for
their contribution to Indian Hockey and it’s development in India .
I really hope that this year they would be conferred by the
awards, with Ashok Kumar Dhyanchand , also being conferred the Padma Shri, and make the nation go DELIRIOUS
and WILD in enjoyment and celebration of the same.
Will the Indian Government rise to the occasion- WELL THAT IS A QUESTION OF CONJECTURE ??
That is it
Regards and Thanks
