THOSE
DAYS...........
Most of the time between 1970 to 1976 was spend at the Hostel
The TWO School were I spend those time were Carmel Convent
Hostel, Bishrampur ( 1969-1970 to 1972)
for three years and the Hostel of Christ Church Boys’Higher Secondary School at
Jabalpur,from ( 1972 to 1976 ) for FOUR
years.
At Carmel School we would have a seven days of School Holiday/Break for the Christmas where I
would travel from Bishrampur
to Duman-Hill Colliery where
my Father was posted as Executive Engineer then at the Coal field at Surguja.
Later on he was transferred to Pathakhera Colliery near to Betul
at the Betul District at Madhya Pradesh
very near to the Sarni Thermal Station Electricity Plant where I would
have to travel from Jabalpur from the CCBHSS Hostel to Itarsi and then change
the train from Itarsi to Ghoradongri and from there travel by a Jeep to
Pathakhera Colliery. However the break of the Christmas holiday at the CCBHSS
at Jabalpur was long , and consequently we were at our home for a longer
duration of time.
We would be at the home
with our family members as the C C B H S S School would have a Month Off break
from December 10th to about January 7th every year
WE WOULD ANXIOUSLY AWAIT FOR THE CHRISTMAS
TO APPROACH AS THAT WOULD TAKE US TO OUR HOME TO BE ALONG WITH OUR PARENTS.
That was the IMPORTANCE of the Christmas for us- the "JAIL-BIRDS
" who were known as the HOSTELIERS/BOARDERS of CCBHSS, then.
The boarding life was UNIQUE and it was this life which made us
a - "
MAN " for all the season and the hostel life made us very DIFFERENT
when still it boils down to taking on the WORLD.
The exposure that we got in our life at the
HOSTEL/BOARDING.....it is something that NOBODY would TEACH us or IMBIBE those
qualities in us- for that made us- "
STEEL"
Thanks to the Christmas
Holiday which taught us HOW TO TRAVEL
ALONE when our age THEN was HARDLY " TEN "
A ten YEAR old HOSTELIER travelling from Bishrampur Hostel all
the way to Duman-Hill or a 12 year boy travelling ALL ALONE from the Hostel of
CCBHSS to Pathakhera via Itarsi and Ghoradongri. Those memory still lingers and
then the nostalgia’s of many an incident flashes acroos our eye which makes us
a bit heavy as the eye also becomes moist.
NEVER WILL THE PRESENT PARENTS ALLOW THEIR CHILDRENS DOING IT
NOW - " NEVER " to travel alone.
That is what we became and imbibed the tough and the hard quality while staying at
the HOSTEL and THANKS-" CHRISTMAS " for
the same.
Memoirs
and the Memory- ::
Certain " MOMENT'S " Of Life Becomes A " MEMORY
" Never To Be Forgotten.......
This is the photo of the C.C.B.H.S.S School's HOSTEL of the 1976
batch of the “ A ” Dormitory. .This is the " A " Dormitory of the
1976 batch, of the hostel of CCBHSS. .
Some of them might be NOT alive now but
most of them are still alive. Many are NOT in contact. However the faces at
times LINGERS and WHAT A GRAND TIME OF YOUTH THAT WE HAD AND THE FRIENDSHIP THAT WE
LIVED TO ENJOY THOSE MOMENTS .
Now-a-days only when I remember those moments the EYE becomes
MOIST. Those days will NEVER come back to life- " NEVER " again .....
THANKS , Prasanna Salsingikar, my class mate and my batch-mate
at the School who was a days’ scholar at that School, who gave this photo to me
and I still preserve it. This was the photo, who , as he, send me this photo on the New
Years eve and THIS perhaps is the BEST prize that I won this year.
I'm sitting on the THIRD from the LEFT on the row, there in the first row, sitting, that is posed
SITTING between K.K.Dutta ( expired ) who is on my RIGHT and Deepak Gupta, The
