" PRINCE " SALIM DURRANI - He Took Cricket By Its " STUFF "Like A " KING " And The World Of " AD " By Its " PUFF " Like A " PRINCE "

Pic - : The Infamous " AD " Of A Cigarette in the 80's which cried - " LIVE LIFE KING SIZE "

His was a life that could not be understood properly in terms of its RELEVANCE but it could be written very easily in terms of REMEMBRANCE

His CLOSE and DEAREST friend M.L.Jaisimha exactly with the PRINCE CHARMING of Indian cricket, Salim Azizuddin Durrani in his eye, and along with his office colleague and associate, Abbas Ali Baig,  working as a COMMUNICATION CHIEF with FOUR SQUARE KING had developed an AD  for the FOUR SQUARE CIGARETTES' and it wrote as such -::

'' CHARM IS THE '' SPIRIT OF FREEDOM , CHARM IS THE WAY OF LIFE ''

Pic - :: The Ad Which Characterises and depicts the essence of 'CHARM ''

The conceptualisation of the ad, and the characteristics symbolised and reflected all about Salim Durrani and the entire ad was thus framed and formed which was the rage in the eighties'  and this is how Salim Durrani razed the world of the cigarette and its world.

This ad had hit the rage amongst the PUFFERS  between 1982 to about 1985 and with the other ad that I have depicted above with Dilip Dhavan playing the lead in it, the LIFE STORY of Salim Durrani , to me the SALIM CHACHAJI  is narrated here which truly reflect his life with the synchronisation of the two puff-ads described above.

Well how do we remember Salim Durrani who breather his last on April 2nd 2023, after having been born at Kabul  on December 11th  1934 whose birth registration was registered at Karachi and who settles at India at Jamnagar where he breathed his last.

The day he breathed his last- APRIL 2nd 2023, APRIL 2nd is a HISTORIC DAY for Indian cricket as on this  day on April 2nd 2011 India had won her SECOND WORLD CUP TITLE

Thus he was born on the date when the Mughals laid their  FOUNDATION DAY  to rule India and he breathed his last on the day when India had won the WORLD CUP SECOND in cricket.

His life too laid the FOUNDATION of VICTORIES of  Indian cricket in terms of ,many a WINS and he left this WORLD on the day when India had WON  her second title in  one day cricket that is played for FIFTY OVERS. .

Salim Durrani :: Only Cricketer Who Possessed THREE Different Nationality

Well if we were to write about him the shortest and the bare minimum words that could be written about him would stand as follow-::

He was everything a LINE that described " LIVE LIFE KING SIZE " .Not at all loaded with any money and always short, infact vey short, HE LIVED HIS LIFE LIKE A KING INSPITE OF THE FACT THAT HE WAS PENNILESS. The LESS or LEAST that he possessed MONEY, the MORE was his FLAMBOYANCY when it came to cricket, be it any form of cricket and in that he was a EMPORER of the game.

Pic - :: March 10th 1971, Salim Durrani the '' PRINCE CHARMING ''   posed after India beat West-Indies To Win Her Maiden Test Victory Over West-Indies At Port-Of-Spain. He " FASHIONED " that Indian victory.

He EXACTLY knew when to TURN ON THE SCREW and he turned it without using the JACK. He had that capability and the capacity to completely turn the match with a spell of ONE DELIVERY or within a gap of FIVE minutes through his bat.

He holds the WORLD RECORD of scoring the FASTEST fifty- exactly in 28 minutes at Kanpur against England in 1964 , where he scored an unbeaten 64,  and his spell of 44-12-38-6 wickets against  West  ZONE in a DULEEP TROPHY match averaging 0.86 runs per over in 44 overs is the MOST MEAN RUNS CONCEDED in the  entire completed  innings where the opposition got out, in the annals of cricket which is a WORLD RECORD  In that innings while bowling HE DID NOT CONCEDED EVEN ONE RUN PER OVER.

Let us learn and know the real Salim Durrani who everyday till he breathed his last FOUGHT like a TIGER so relentlessly and LIVED his life without any GRUMBLE even the LIFE did not give him or serve him anything of that sort which a KING relishes and enjoys his life though he was a PRINCE in that manner

Pic - :: Chandu Borde and Salim Durrani going to bat to put on a 142 runs partnership for India at Brabourne Stadium in 1962.

He was who completely broke the English batting by its backbone in 1962 with his bowling where he claimed 23 wickets in the five Test series. The occasion that took away from England, the series in 1962 was the partnership of 142 runs that he shared with Chandu Borde for the seventh or maybe for the eight wicket .England could not grip India since then in that series. Borde had scored 69 and Durrani scored 71 hitting two huge six and ten boundaries.

We have known Salim Durrani as a cricketer .Let us know him as a human being outside cricket. For that would make the entire story of his life which would read as-::

'' MY LIFE BEYOND SIX' '

His Birth Date :: Resembles To the date Of The Mughal Empire FOUNDATION  In India

December 11th 1192. This was the date when Mohammed Ghori defeated Prithiviraj Chauhan in a battle after having tasted 17 consecutive defeat against Chauhan. On that day after defeating Prithiviraj Chauhan, Gori from Afghanisan known as Mohammed laid the Mughal rule in India.

Salim Durrani was born on that date . He later LAID his rule of the game he played. That was way back in 1952-53 when he represented Gujarat in a Ranji Trophy match and scored a CENTURY in his very first innings in the Ranji Trophy.  From 1952-53 to 1978, he played for about TWENTY FIVE years and his involvement saw him playing for Gujarat, Saurashtra and Rajasthan.

He possessed THREE different nationality because of his birth and he played for three different State Association in the Ranji Trophy  while playing this game. That counts for his similiarity and his association with his birth and cricket.

His Transformation From  A  WICKET-KEEPER TO A RIGHT HAND MEDIUM PACER TO A LEFT ARM SPINNER-::

SURPRISED - definitely YES that would mean and that would speak. His Father Azzizuddin Durrani was a famed Wicket-keeper who after four years that Salim Chacha was born, won the Ranji Trophy for his association. He was a Wicket-keeper.

Salim Chahcha when he first started playing cricket he was made to keep the wicket and his Father ingrained in him all the finest quality of a wicket-keeper. It was that in the ners while turning out for the Gujarat State association as a probable for their Ranji Trophy team, his height and the strength that his shoulder had, made the Captain of the Gujarat Ranji Trophy Team to turn him into a MEDIUM PACER to open the bowling for the Gujarat ranji Trophy tewam. He doid it for the interest of the team.

It was Vinoo Mankad who was introduced to Salim Durrani by his Father wnd Vinoo Mankad converted him into a SUBTLE-LEFT-ARM-SPINNER and ever since that Salim Chacha was a spinner to the WORLD of cricket.

Here also HE HAD THREE DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT OF THE GAME UNDER HIS CLUTCH WHERE HE WAS GOOD  INTO THEM BY ALL MEANS.

His Academic Qualification - :: He Simply Studied Because Of The “ HECK ”  Of It

He was admitted into the branch of ANJUMAN- I -  ISLAMIA . He was not very keen to study and learn at all. He only attended the classes so that he could be marked present and that would enable him to play cricket for the school. His attendance was the best – not because he wanted to study but that would mean that he would be given chance to play cricket for his school.

He continued to pass his exam but he did not appear for his matriculation final exams and from then it was GOOD-BYE-STUDIES for  Salim Chachiji

Once he left his studies HE DID NOT GO TO THE SCHOOL FOR HIS CERTIFICATES. That HINDERED   him while seeking a job .The most UNFORTUNATE incident that rocked him was the time when his certificate was needed for the passport to West-Indies for the 1962 sojourn. He did not possess that. However a timely intervention by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru cleared the deck for him to travel to West-Indies and the rest is a history.

My Qualification Is Cricket , I'm  A Cricketer:: That CARRIED Him Till He Breathed His Last

Where ever he went and at any place that he was present, he always introduced as CRICKETER SALIM DURRANI. That was his QUALIFICATION and he smartly spoke in the manner that he would making CRICKET to be essence as his qualification.

This gave him his BREAD, his IDENTITY and whatever JOB that he would do actually as a cricketer.

He “ STOLE” The “ GRUBS ” – He  Felt “ PROUD ” About It.

During those days when they played cricket in between 1950 to about 1973, mostly during the Club matches and office matches  the players playing would carry their tiffin and the lunch. It would be the DRY lunch , ie , a lot of savouries and some buiscuits for the tiffin and some home made stuffs or the grubs  for the same.

He would come empty handed as he did not have the money extra  to get it prepared for him by his family. Obviously at times he was gifted a bit of the same by his colleagues who had a soft corner for him.

One fine day, he got struck by a ball while playing a game and obviously to rehabilitate him he came to the pavilion. He was feeling hungry beside the injury nagging him. He lost his composure.

He started opening the bags of the others. He took away some of the grubs that suited him from the bags of the other players. Once settled and nulled by the pain that the injury had caused he came back to the game. As it was- he claimed seven wickets, one after the another and he scored a century helping his team CIPLA to win that game.

Thereafter started his act of stealing the grub. Purposely while playing the game, he would come to the pavilion and ROB some of the savouries like DAL-MOTH, MATHRI, SEV  etc to fill his tomma.

Pic - :: The Paper Clipping Of Salim Durrani Scoring 199 In The TIMES-SHIELD - FINALS against CIPLA

THE MATCH IN WHICH HE SCORED A 199 FOR SIPLA, HE STOLE THESE SAVOURIES AND SCORED THAT MANY A RUNS.

A SUPERSTITIOUS  belief was cast on him. It made him to believe that IF HE STOLE AND ATE THEM WHILE DURING THE MATCH-HE WOULD PERFORM BRILLIANTLY.

Not that the players later came to know that who was the one doing it. However inspite of knowing it they ALLOWED him to do that. The reason being every cricketer has his own superstition. Everybody felt that if that gives him luck to perform be it as watching him in full flow was a LESSON IN OBJECTIVITY. They and everuybody relished Salim Durrani playing at his best. That 199 that he scored in the fianls of TIMES SHIELD on April 13th 1960  remained his HIGHEST in any form of cricket that ranged from TEST to the OFFICE match.

However he did not do it  ie , stole the savouries while playing the Ranji, the Duleep and the Test matches for India.

He Never felt Ashamed Of Doing Anything “ CLEANLY ” From His Heart

He never was ashamed to do anything that we wish to do them and he did it with a clean heart. Always  short of money and mostly till the age of 71, he was always short and in need of money. He never had anything to fall for.

He would openly ask them who were his fans and who he was close to TO HELP HIM WITH MONEY.

He openly would say them- HELP ME AND DO NOT EXPECT THE MONEY BACK. STRANGELY MORE OFTEN THAN NOT HE GOT THEM  BUT NEVER TO HIS MAXIMUM NEED AND SATISFACTION.

He Was “ PULLED” By Chandu Borde And Jaisimha Regularly

His two very close and dear friends were Chandu Borde and M.L.Jaisimha. Slaim Chacha by the time in between 1956-57 to about 1978, till the moment that he played for Rajasthan, got in touch with almost all the ROYAL FAMILIES of Rajasthan. His game brought them very close to him and vice-versa.

The ROYALNESS RUBBED him and he started acting and behaving like them. That put him in a wrong place for most of the time and he would somehow  by the SAY of his eye manage the matter.

More often than not , during those days when the FIVE PAISE even had its value in terms of everything, he would take his fellow players in the road side eateries and would treat them lavishly. When would come the matter for exchanging the money with the shop-keeper for the treat, his eye would speak to them.

Since je was the DARLING and the HEART-THROB of everybody, they would release him without any charge. For most of the time he carried his life in that manner whenever he would treat his co-players and some distinguished one who visited him, or whom he would treat them.

He “ REGRETS ” About  Pataudi Not Paying Him “ FIVE-DOLLARS ”

It was the tour of 1962 and the Indian team were at the West-Indies. During that tour, there were TWO Test matches played at the Port-Of-Spain. In one of the Test match, Pataudi took a bet against him.

All Pataudi said was- I WILL SCORE MORE THAN YOU. If I beat you you would pay me FIVE DOLLARS, and vice-versa.Well in that innings, Pataudi scored 48 and got ouit. Durrani batting at number ten  in that match, scored an unbeaten 48.

After the innings, Durrani would always look upto Pataudi with his eye asking for the money Pand pataudi would reply by his eye that he would pay. PATAUDI NEVER PAIOD THAT AMOUNT. That it seems, cast a kind of a repercussions onhis ,mind. He always felt that IF PATAUDI HAD PAID HIM THAT AMOUNT- HIS FORTUNE WOULD HAVE CHANGED.

When pataudi got him a job in the J.K Textiles for Rs 5,000=00  per month he was happy. That job was till he would play cricket for J.K in the various club matches tournaments , he would receive that pay, but no sooner he gave awy playing cricket that salary would stop.

He would always say that IF PATAUDI HAD PAID ME THAT FIVE DOLLARS, MY LUCK WOULD HAVE BEEN SKY-HIGH. Inspite of the fact that Pataudi got him that kind of a salary from the JK’s his belief about his fortune and his luck for that five dollars payment which he did not receive remained same.

His FRIENDSHIP WITH B.S.CHANDRASHEKAR AND THEIR “ SUPERSTITIONS ”

He first met Chandrashekar when Chandra was summoned for the india-Australia Test match at Bombay, then, which India won by two wickets.

Pic - :: September 26th 1976, Salim Durrani  Returning The Bat He Had Borrowed From B.S.Chandrashekar On The Eve Of The Moin-Ud-Dowlah Cricket match watched By M.L Jaisimha, Gopal Bose And G.R.Vishvanath

During that match he failed in the first innings. That was because of the IMPOVERISH  standard and the quality of the bat that he was playing with.It was a ROADSIDE prepared bat that got him his FIRST century at the West-Indies in 1962. That roadside bat was gifted to him by the nephew of maharaja Ranji who was based at Jamnagar where Salim Chacha stayed and his breathed his end.

Having no money, he carried with that bat for a number of days. The qualityless bat did not posses that kind of a stroke and the punch to enable the ball to carry to the end where he wish to play his shots. Chandrashekar saw it and he could feel the same for him.

In the second innings when India needed to win that match, pataudi send him as the first drop.  No sooner that he was ordered to fill in that breach, Chandra came upto him and gave his bat.Chandra was gifted that bat by the K.S.C. A and that bat had everything in it.

Taking that bat Durrani pounced on the Aussies and with Sardesai within no time realized a plus fifty partnership. Thereafter till the moment Chandra and Durrani played together, Chandra would everytime go to Durrani and give his bat to Salim Chacha to bat with it. In return when Chandra would come to bowl, Durrani would FIRST touch the ball, RUB IT on his thigh, shine it and toss it to Chandra. This is how it carried and it went till both played for India together.

His First Film :: It Was '' EK MASOOM '' Hardly people Know About The same

His First Hindi Film Was '' EK MASOOM '' Starring Tanuja Released In 1969 . Many say and many feel and believe that his first film was CHARITRA which is completely wrong .

Pic - :: U Tube Of the Film '' EK MASOOM '' The ' 'FIRST-DEBUT-FILM '' Of Salim Durrani Released In 1969 opposite Tanuja

The fact is his first debut film in Hindi was EK MASSOM   which was released in 1969 and his FIRST lead heroine was Tanuja. He could not make it to Sharmilee inspite of signing the film and that lead role went to Shashi Kapoor. Charitra thus was his SECOND Hindi film in whih he played the lead role opposite parveen Babi.

West-Indies Tour Of 1971 :: I Would Have Got Many Runs If Only Chandra Was In The Team

The West-Indies tour of 1971 was one of the MOST- CONQUESTING-MOMENTS   in the annals of Indian cricket. It is regarded as a TOUR which completely changed the entire composition in terms of the structure of Indian cricket.

The so ca;lled “ SKELETON ” of Indian cricket then , was filled with MUSCLES, NERVES, VEIN and TISSUE , BLOOD and SALT  over that skeleton to make it a complete MAN. The man who did that was Salim Chacha.

Two dents with a PANACHE and those two SUCKERS  made the West – Indies and it’s cricket LEGLESS lest Gary Sobers and Alvin Kallicharran made it to stand on it’s feet in 1973 after their 2-0 win over England with Clive Lloyd leading that side. That was the damage that Salim Chacha had caused to the Caribbean’s and it’s cricket.

However Salim Chacha was dropped after the Tird Test and it was because of his failure with the bat. From the Third Test at west-Indies till the second Test against England at edens Gardens, India had played thill then SIX Test matches. Thhe man who would hit the SIXES at the demands of the crowd was “ SIXLY- STITCHED  “by the Indian selectors.

He carried a belief  and he openly asserted it saying that INSPITE OF THE FACT THAT CHANDRA GAVE ME A BAT, HIS PERSONAL FOR ME TO CARRY ON, I COULD NOT SCORE IN WEST-INDIES IN 1971 AS CHANDRA WAS NOT THERE AT THE VENUE TO HAND ME THE BAT.

I HAVE TWO “ TAPE-RECORDERS ”  FOR YOU ………..

It was just after the Port Of Spain Test at the West-Indies. On March 10th 1971, after Sunil Gavaskar hit that winning run where India defeated the West-Indies by seven wickets, the Indian team reached its hotel. The players were at their  self mercury  mercy  to enjoy themselves.

Salim Chacha had other idea, and he set himself at the bathroom wo wash his linen. While doing so, he got a call that was transferred to him courtesy the lobby.

Can I meet Sardesia Sir- asked a melodious sweet voice . No he is not in the room came  the answer. Whom I’m speaking to, came back the reply

Well- this is Salim Durrani. OH!! Salim CHARMING, well I have TWO transistors for you for those two wickets and HOW ABOUT SHARING A CUP OF COFFEE AT THE HOTEL RESTAURANT.

Dressed up PRINCELY with all the attire that would make him feel a PRINCE he came to the lobby, from there he went to the nook and corner and to the swimming pool to find his TAPE-RECORDER but he found nothing.

Came back again to room, he got into his act once again to start washing his linens. Again that same voice dented him and again he dressed like a PRINCE CHARMING and set for his hunt for the two tape recorders.

Miserably he failed to hunt and get the tape recorder . He came back to his room. The third attempt was repeated by that SWEET VOICE and the time did not change and neither the fortune for Salim Chacha to get those two tape recorder.

After some time came in Dilip Sardesai in the room. Salim Bhai what are you upto. Thereafter after receiving the answer, Dilip Sardesai after the passage of some minutes said him- OH!! YOU ARE SALIM PRINCE CHARMING, IS IT . WELL WHERE ARE YOUR TAPE RECORDERS.

Initially when sardesia said him all these, Salim Chacha could not pick up the thread to pull the leg and understand it.After some times when he could catch the TROUT by the FLY he could understand the joke that Sardesai had played. They BURST into laughters and then Chachji replied-  EXPECTING GIFTS THAT TOO ON A FOREIGN TOUR FROM YOU DILIP, YOU CAN NEVER PART YOUR WAY WITH YOUR MONEY AT ALL . I’M A FOOL TO HAVE BELIEVED THAT LADY WHICH IS “ YOU ”  .Well LADY LUCK is not for you PRINCE CHARMING replied Sardesai.

Jai- I DID NOT EVER THINK THAT YOU WOULD BE THIS KIND OF A “ FRIEND ” :: SHOLAY REHEARSED ”  IN West- Indies in 1971

In the West-Indies sojourn of 1971 after BLASTING the Jamaica XI  for 137 in the very first match , a upcountry one, Salim Chachaji did not find the runs coming its way and to his way at all.He was very dissapointed. The standard of the West-Indies bowlers were such that he could have hit them , everybody from the stadium to Jamnagar  but his luck was pinning and piercing him to death. That was his bat.

He often would eat EGGS and TOAST for the breakfast and he ate them like the manner that one eats them who relish it. One fine morning Jaisimha strolled his way to the breakfast table and he saw Salim Chahchji eating those stuff.

“ THOSE WHO EAT ANDA ( EGGS ), SCORE ANDA HE, ie , JAI  SAID “ . Jai- I DID NOT KNOW THAT YOU ARE SO MEAN. I TOOK YOU AS A FRIEND AND YOU HAVE MADE ME A “ ZERO “

The manner in which he uttered these words and the way he acted on these words were same ALIKE when Dharmendra said these few words to Amitabh Bachchan in the film Sholay when Dharmendra was BUTTERING Amitabh to go to Hema Malinis aunt to plead her hand for the marriage.

It is said and believed by many who saw Salim Chachaji acting on that day with Jaisimha at West-Indies ,were exactly like, that of  Dharmendra, who  acted in the same manner in the film .

Pic-:: The '' TURNING-POINT '' And The '' VICTORY - EDIFICE '' Of The 1962 Test series Win Againt England  Built By Salim Azizuddin Durrani

He was the one who won the FIRST ever Test series for india against England in 1961-62 and he claimed 23 Wickets beside scring 189 runs in the entire series.

Here in the pictutre/photo, the ball that turned the series in India favour was the wicket of  the '' ROCK ''  of England's batting Ken Barrington, then.  Here he is BOWLED through the GATE by Salim Chachaji who was 28 years of age then.

He Was A  ‘’ LAMBRETTA ’’ till the end of his life-::

He somehow managed a Lambretta. This is what he had till the end of his life. He would ask somebody to drive it and would sit at the back whenever he had to go out of his house for sdome household work and come back in the same manner to his house after expediting his job.

He never drove that. The others drove it for him That is how he managed his life . He was very PLAIN and ABSOLUTELY SIMPLE very TRUEFUL to his essence and his character. He would not allow anything diiferent to creep into his life. Except the dress he wore which would really make him look like a PRINCE he was never the one who would like to change himself. He remained with that Lambretta till the end of his life.

His LOVE for the CIGARETTE and for the WINE in the very later course of his life were inseparable- but he would never DRINK at all at any place outside his house. That was a habit he possesses and he carried. Cigarettes very openly at any place but wine always at his home.

VERY FEW WOULD KNOW – HE MARRIED A HINDU LADY , A DOCTOR BY THE NAME REKHA

Very few would know. He did not make it public and he would not speak about it. He had married a HINDU lady a Doctor by the name of Rekha. This marriage gave him a daughter. However the lady without any divorce lived a separate life as the family of the girl did not accept this marriage.

The LADY WAS DROWNED IN THE LOVE OF SALIM CHACHA . The family problem creeped in heavily as the mindset of the daughter was taking its toll.

They decided to live separately. Salim Chachji had given the permission to the lady to go in for a second marriage to save herself from the WROUGHT of all these things. But the HINDU LADY had drawn her LINE. Till the moment she expired or breathed her last SHE REMAINED ALONE .She did not remarry or marry for the second time. That was her LOVE for her PRINCE CHARMING.

Ther lady ie, Mrs Rekha Salim Durrani had expired when the CORONA hit her. She, as a Lady Doctor ,  was doing her duty to save a patient from Corona Virus lest she fell prey for the same and expired.

The '' ARJUNA-AWARD'' :: Only Receipient Of Bagging The '' SAME-ONE '' award Twice-::

Unbelievable yet true. He is the ONLY sportsman to have received the same ARJUNA AWARD for cricket twice

This award THE HIGHEST NATIONAL AWARD FOR SPORTSMAN of India,  was institutes way back in 1961-62 and when the name of the winner for that year was announced for the first time for the year 1962, Salim Chachaji was the recipient the FIRST for the same. He was at west-Indies during that time to play for India and he was not at the Rashtrapati Bhavan to receive that.

Pic - :: Salim Durrani With The '' ARJUNA AWARD '' Which He bagged In 1962 to REBAG it once again in 2009

His award was handed to some I.A.S officer of Gujarat to hand him the trophy which he was handed at his residence then. He NEVER could know the IMPORTANCE of the trophy/award and he misplaced that .

It was after my release of the book on cricket - INDIAN CRICKET :: FACES THAT CHANGED IT  and the VERY-FIRST-COPY that I presented to him as a gift. After he read the entire book and could assume the importance of that award, he spoke his HEART out to me. He plainly said me that HE HAS MISPLACED THE AWARD but was highly interested to get that one as a replica.

A very SYMPETHATIC letter was drawn by me and send to him which he signed and send it to the President Mrs Pratibha Patil then. It was clearly PLEADED and mentioned in that letter that he was on a national duty, on a tour of West-Indies and he could not receive that award inspite of being too late to demand for the same.

A very sympathetic President Mrs Patil despatched it to the Sports Minister , then , Mr Mani Shankar Iyer, who sympethatically awarded him another with a cash booty of Rs FIVE LAKHS for his effort and contribution to the game and for his contribution for cricket for India. That was finally handed to him on 2009.

That is how he got the AWARD once again- to become the ONLY sportsperson to bag the same award twice.

The ‘’ PALL ’’ and the’ GLOOM ’’ That He Carried -::

He had only ONE regret. That was he was NOT in the Indian team inspite of such a tremendous performance in the dometics since 1965 to 1971 when he came back and made a comeback to the Indian team for the West-Indies tour.He missed playing 17 Test matches that India played at that juncture.

He always believed that HE DESERVED A ‘’PADMA-SHRI ’’  which was his PROPERTY which the Government Of India denied him. That was his TREASURE which was LOOTED from him by the Government of india he always  lamented to his very close and near ones in which I WAS THE ONE.

He was NOT awarded the PADMA SHRI which is a SPIT on the face of Indian cricket fans. The FIRST ever to receive the ARJUNA AWARD in cricket and in any game in India in 1962 he was the FIRST ever cricketer to act in a Hindi film by the name of CHARITRA in which he received Rs 80,000=00 for his labour. He thus was the HIGHEST ever paid film star in the annals of Indian film a record which was later broken by Amitabh Bachchan when he received Rs 1,00,000=00 for his role in Sholay.

Pic - Salim Durrani being felicitated at Jamnagar At The Erecction Of Vinno Mankad Statue At Jamnagar By Hon'ble Prime Minister , Mr Narendra Modi . Even at that age he appeared very                " PICTERESQUE"

He had a GREAT hopes to win that award when Mr Narendra Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India. But he did not receive that favour even from the Modi Government. That actually had HIT him very emotionally.

He Is Spoken Too Highly About The Film, But NOT About The Ads CONCEPTUALISED Oh Him ::

He is so spoken about his CHARM that he carried. He is ao spoken about the FILMS that he did. Hardly he is spoken about the TWO-PUFF-ADS that was essenced and build on his magnanimity.

HE NOT ONLY TOOK THE CRICKETING WORLD BY '' STUFF '' BUT THE '' AD-WORLD '' By            '' PUFF ''

He remained an UNSUNG HERO about the same and today I put it here in words and in  proof.

HE WAS A CLOSE ASSOCIATE OF MINE

It is a LOSS which I cannot rpt CANNOT explain it in words

RIP Salim Chacha.  The LIKES of you will NEVER come back again .

There would not be another Salim Durrani born, in cricket or here on the earth.

That is it

Regards and Thanks
