The change in “ CHARACTERISTIC ” of the Indian Armed Force
A Brief History Of
India Army Under the Britishers
Certain things are
NOT at all possible to write and describe and the be a perfect historian for it
to describe and narrate.
It is very hard to ascribe and describe the Indian Army
which has a history even before it was formed when the British took it over
from the East India Company and formed the Indian British Army to fight for
them.
It is also very hard to find out the dates but a thorough
research has made it possible to fond out the date of the Indian Army as to
when was it formed.
Here in this write up I shall present a very short
description of the indian Army and the change that occurred in it’s habit and
charecteristics.
The Origin of the
Indian Army-::
The words would fail
but a small attempt is made by me to write about the origin of the indian
Army. When I use the word “ ARMY ” I take the THREE wings of the Army ie the
DEFENSE FORCE of India, the Indian Military as I would like to call that, the
INDIAN AIR FORCE and the INDIAN NAVY. However here I would only WRITE about
the INDIAN MILITARY ie that section of the defense who we call it as a ARMY
fighting on the land .
“ I’M NOT DESCRIBING
ANYTHING ABOUT THE INDIAN AIR-FORCE AND THE INDIAN NAVY ”
Very hard again to
find out the origin and the time when the Indian Army was formed a thorough
research was done by me and I found out that the Indian Army was formed even
before the British laid it’s rule here in India by the name of the EAST INDIA
COMPANY and then the Britishers took it over from the East India Company and
added the Indian Army under it’s wing by naming it the BRITISH INDIAN ARMY.
It is said that the Army was formed even before the
Britishers in the form of the Esat India Company had arrived here. Hence the exact date of the
Indian Army and all about it’s formation will not be known to me but the
British East india Company was started here in India in 1600AD and immediately
thereafter the Indian British Army was formed by them so I take the formation
and the foundation year as 1600 AD.
The Indian Army has its origins in the
years after the Indian Rebellion of 1857, often called the Indian Mutiny in
British histories, when in 1858 the Crown took over direct
rule of British India from the East India Company. ... These
operated alongside units of the British Army, funded by
the British government in London
The Army of India was
raised under the British Raj in the 19th century by taking the erstwhile
presidency armies, merging them, and bringing them under the Crown. The
British Indian Army fought in both World Wars
The YEAR when the
British Indian Army gained the “ WORLDWIDE
” reputation ::
It was the MUTINY
that was caused in 1857 when Mangal Pandey a “ SEPOY ” of the British India Army refused to bite the bullet that
contained the fats of the pigs to fire a gun shot . That was the FIRST
occasion when the Indian Army revolted against the British in 1857.
This gained a WORLD-WIDE
reputation and from here started the MUTINY
and the FIRST WAR OF INDIAN
INDEPENDENCE.
“ IT IS THE INDIAN ARMY WHICH SIGNALLED AND “ ORIGINATED ” THE STRUGGLE
OF THE WAR OF INDEPENDENCE IN INDIA ” . The man who led it from the FRONT was MANGAL PANDEY .This was the
start and from here the CHANGE in the BEHAVIOUR and the CHARECTERISTIC started
taking shape and the place of the Indian Army
“ SLANG ” that started in the Indian Army ::
In my personal life and from my family we have a few who
have had the experience of being in the DEFENSE sector of India. A cousin of mine always used certain terms
which I would call it a “ SLANG ” to hear it for.
I asked him once WHY THESE SLANGS. He replied- IT WAS AND IT
IS A “ ARMY-SLANG ” .That made my interest RICHER-AND-DEEPER” to learn why and
how the slangs came and have entered in the Army . My deep study took me down
to 1857 when after the MUTINY that took
place in the British Army, the Britishers after dousing the same, came up with
a word “ PANDY” which was a substituted word of “PANDA” an animal and they
started using this as a SLANG to BELITTLE Mangal Pandey and his deed so that
the Indian Unit of army under the BRITISH remains completely doused and it does
not make any attempt for any revolt in the future. THIS IS HOW THE INDIAN UNIT OF THE
BRITISH ARMY WAS MADE TO SUBDUE THEMSELVES TO THE BRITISHERS AND THIS WAS TH
FIRST CHANGE IN THE CHARECTERISTICS OF THE INDIAN ARMY UNDER THE BRITISH.
The various change and the change of the mindset of the
Indian unit of the British Army is again very hard for me to tell and write but
the real change in the attitude of the Indian Army was seen in the world War- I
.
World War – I ::
The “ FIRST” Of The “ PERKS-REVOLT ” In The Army Against The Britishers.
One might NEVER
know what was the reason of the World war-I .Well, I describe it as under-::
The “ PRINCE ” of
Austria was slained and killed and that caused a GREAT deal of LOSS to
Romania and Hungary. Austria though is a nation which is very close to Germany
at Europe, it was ruled by the Hungarian in one part of the country and by
Romania in the other half. The Austrian Royal family every year had to pay a ROYALTY to the Kings and the Royal
families of Romania and Hungary.
With the slaining of the Prince of Austria, this royalty
somehow was stopped by the Austrian Royal family as they could not bear to pay
that kind of a huge amount of the royalty to the two countries that I have
mentioned here. Obviously – there aroused some grouse for the same and it was
Hungary which started the fight. The result was that the war broke out.
Britain being the most POWERFUL
nation at that time was approached by the Hungarians to help them for the war.
British and the British ruling authority were assured of a huge bonus if
Britain fought the war along with them and won the war for them. It was here
that Britain used the members of the Indian unit of the British Army during the
war.
It was HERE that
the BUGUIL of the SECOND MUTINY that broke out with the
Indian unit of the British Army and the Britishers who were ruling India. The
Indian members/ unit demanded that their widows and their off-springs ought to
be full taken care and compensated if they lost their war . After all the future
too holds for anybody and the Britishers ought to take a good care of those who
would be martyred in the war. Initially the Britishers were not ready to meet
this expenses.
The other reason why the Indian stood their ground very
badly and very stubbornly for the same was that the indian Unit of the British
Army was very POORLY paid and compensated. This did not go well with the
Indians and when they sw their chance coming to that they demanded for the
same. Once the Britishers did agree to that, the Indians went to the war.The
British and it’s allies could win the War because of the gallantry and the
chivalry that the Indian Unit especially the SIKHS and the RAJPUTS displayed
during the war. The World at large who were fighting the war could see the STYLE,
the COURAGE and the FEARLESS attitude of the Indians who were the one’s
fighting for the Britishers to win the war for them.
THAT AGAIN WAS THE
SECOND OCASSION WHEN THE ATTITUDEand th “ MENTAL-MAKE-UP ” CHANGED WITHIN THE INDIAN ARMY TO FIGHT THE
WAR .
In all during that War there were about 550 Indian soldiers
who were KILLED in the war and the
statistics says that there were about 87 ( Eighty Seven ) Indians who were
conferred with the QUEEN VICTORIA CROSS
, the HIGHEST GALLANTRY AWARD that was conferred by the Britishers to the
soldiers .
Who started Army in
India?
Pic - :: Mohan Singh The " FIRST " Inventor Of The Indian Army
It was Mohan Singh who started the Indian Army
and NOT Netaji Subash Chandra Bose.
Mohan Singh came from a family of Army and his great great Grand father was a
member of that Indian Unit of British army who supported Mangal Pandey when the
FIRST revolt in terms of the mutiny
took place here at India. That idea impressed and motivated Mohan Singh like
anything that he resigned his job under
the Britishers as a Army personnel and went to form an independent Army here at
India to fight the Britishers. His attempts were quashed by the Britishers .
Pic :: Netaji Taking
The Guard Of Honour From The Azad Hind Fauz with Mohan Singh
Finding
it hard to single handedly fight the British and with NO ADEQUATE HELP from any quarter, he went to Singapore to from an
Indian Army at Singapore. However the funds were not adequate with him. When he
met Netaji in Singapore he, ie Mr Bose was on HIGH and was highly impressed by Netaji and Netaji also
needed a man with all the experience of the Army to form the AZAD-HIND-FAUZ and when he got a
person as highly impressive and experienced as Mohan Singh, he took him under
his wing. That started the origin and the ROOT
of the INDIAN ARMY , NOT in India but at abroad at Singalpore and it was MOHAN SINGH who actually had formed an
Indian Army abroad, FIRST, before
his small unit was annexed to the Azad Hind Fauz.
There were many prisoners at the jail at
Singapore. These had revolted against the British. Once freed they were
assembled at Singapore by Mohan Singh .From these prisoners, the First Indian
National Army was formed under Mohan Singh. Singh was an officer in
the British-Indian Army who was captured early in the Malayan
campaign. His nationalist sympathies found an ally in Fujiwara and he received
considerable Japanese aid and support .later Mohan Singh joined the Azad Hind
Fauz and that gave the Fauz a very good hand to train them and make them SOLID to fight as an unit.
This unit , the Azad Hind Fauz during that
time had about 40,000 soldiers as compared ther Army that Brirish had it over
here with only 20,000 personnels to fight for them, and there were about 5,000
women in that Army. That was the FIRST
occasion that the ARMY anywhere in the WORLD had women’s in them to take on
the fight and it was NETAJI SUBASH
CHANDRA BOSE who gave the place and the seat to the WOMEN in the ARMY to make
the world to BELIEVE that WOMEN TOO ARE A “FORCE” TO RECKON WITH
The Third Occasion
When The Make-Up and The Mentality Of The Indian Changed In Army.
Between 1942
to 1944 the Azad Hind Fauz within that two years of time fought as many as FIVE battle with the British-Indian
Army at Andaman and Nicobar, Taiwan,
Singapore and Rangoon and it WON
all it’s war against them. Not only that IT
LIBERATED all the areas that the Britishers were holding under them in
these areas. At places it also fought together with the Japanese army to
completely outclass and slash the British Force to “ NOUGHT ” .
These wars actually were the TRIAL-AND-THE-ERROR , a ploy of Netaji
to completely IRON and ROCK the
mental make up of the Azad Hind Fauz to take on the Britishers in their final
onslaught at Rangoon aand at india to sweep them of their feet and liberate
India.
The manner in which those Indian fought the war against
the MIGHT of the Britishers who also used the cannon which the Azad Hind Fauz
was not possessing then, and defrat them, grinding them to the dust was
something which was a very upheaveal task for the FAUZ to do it. But when thet did it and beat the Britishers the MENTAL-MAKE up was completely changed
for those Fauz and that was another occasion that one saw the change in the attitude
and the character of the Indians at war.
When was the Indian army created?
Though not a very certain dates are vailable, however it is
believed that WITHIN the BRITISH-INDIA Army under the British, a separate wing
of Indian army was created by the Britishers.
The British had TWO wings of their Army. The FIRST was the SPECIALS who had come here from Ireland, Scotland and Wales . They
would operate the cannons and the tanks in whatever way the British Indian Army
had then and the Indians would fight it with the guns.
1st April 1895, is the date when the FIRST Indian Army was created and by
then from 1895 to till about the Indians either separately for the Azad Hind
Fauz and for the Britishers had fought about FIVE wars which could be termed as the WAR TO LIBERATE INDIA and the TWO
WORLD WAR of which the second one in the offing as it started from 1940 and
it ended at 1944 . India and the
Indian soldiers till then had fought the FIVE
wars against the Britishers, the ONE
World war between 1914 to1918 and the SIXTH
one, the SECOND WORLD WAR which was
in progress had seen the Indian Army and it’s personnel fighting with their bent of mind
completely changed under the varying circumstances and the mental make up was
such that whenever the Indian took onto the field it SHOOK the opponent and
CRACKED them like the wall gets cracked never to be JOINED AGAIN. That is what the mental make up and the characteristic
of the Indian Army men till then had been.
If we take the ENTIRE
ammunitions and the personnel along with it’s STRENGTH associated with it,
OBVIOUSLY the US is the LARGEST as well as the STRONGEST Army in the World.
However if we have to TAKE the MODERN-SPOHISTICATION-DESTRUCTABLE weapons than
the Russians would walk away with the honour. The kind of the ammunitions and
the weapons that the Russins owe and possess, for example their
INTER-CONTINENTAL-BALLISTIC-MISSILES which fired from Moscow can CROOS and
TRAVEL the THREE continents and can fall at Melbourne to damage the entire city
of Melbourne is something and the likes of those kind of weapons are something
that it makes them THE STRONGEST ARMY in terms of possessing the MOST
DESTRUCTABLE Army in the world.
However in yterms of
the number of those Army personnels who FIGHT with the GUNS at and on the
GROUND, the HONOUR definitely goes to China with India close behind and I put
my numbers here for a peruse of a very careful nature…..!!!!!

The Indo-Chinese Aggression of 1962 : A Lesson In “OBJECTIVITY” and “ IGNORANCE
”
There are many and many a story that is told and written about
THIS- the ONLY war which the Indian Army had LOST to it’s opponent the People
Liberation Army ( PLA )
|
139,576
Total 14,43,921
|
140,000
11,55,000
|
There were and there are many
incident linked to this aggression and the FOREMOST
was the BLIND EYED attitude and the OVERBELIEF by India on the Chinese
leadership. That was the TOPMOST
reason that India DID NOT CARE about
it’s MILITARY STRENGTENNING at all.
During that time when this war with China was fought, the entire BUDGET of India was almost 307 crores
for the Indian defense, and this was a PEA-NUT
for India to spend it on the budget.
Pandit Nehru as the Prime
Minister just DID NOT give any heed
or any DAMN to the defense sector
and it’s budget.
Secondly- the kind of ammunition
and the attires that are needed to fight in the nail-biting-chills at the
Himalayas and on the ice was NOT at
all there with India to take on that kind of a well grained-and-trained Chinese
Army . Again with NO ammunition and the bullets or even the planes, SOPHISTICATED during that era , it was
not at all possible for the Indian Army to take on the might of the Chinese.
Third - The Indian did not practice or train at any
time on these kind of icy surface and the cold to fight and take on the Chinese
. That was revealed by the CEO of
the Indian Army to fight on thee land Mr Thimappa who took onto two separate driils
on the ice to fight the Chinese Army at
the Himalayas but he could make it out very soon that it would be a crushing
defeat for the Indians based on the factors stated above to shake the pillars
of China and cause them any defeat.
Pic:: 1962, Canvas Shoes On The feet Of Indian Army and Ordinary Rifles to Fight China
Obviously when China launched a
full fledged attack on India, India and the Indian army had to get and plunge
into the business. The Indian Army knew that without anything it would not be
possible for them to win the war- but without anything as such and those kind
of scarcity and means of useless ammunition, when it entered the FRAY- it pulled the Chinese days after
days to prolong thewar however suffereing the HEAVIEST of the HEAVY casualty.
It was MORE of a MENTAL make up and the COURAGE that the Indian Army always had
that it pulled the war for such a long period of time finally losing that.
However that defeat was another kind of a
mental make up and a change in the dimension and the characteristic of the
Indian Army. It was obvious to them that if they are supplied with the most
sophisticated and the modern ammunities it would cause a HEAVY destruction and would shatter the enemy for all that it
possesses. This war against China completely brought in a very different kind of
a ROCK-STEAD attitude and the spirit
of fighting till it’s is death that kills them and NOT the bullets of the
opponent and that infact changed and REVOLUTIONISED
the Indian Army in terms of it’s perspective and attiude for ever. It had a reason for the same
Pic :: 1962, a scene of Indian Army standing on the Border with any AMMUNITION to fight the Chinese Army
In that war as the days were
passing one after the another- the Indian Army at one point of a time even DID NOT have the guns with them to
fight the war . There were even NO
BULLETS to fight it. There were many an occasion when the soldiers wrestles
with the Chinese Army before they were shot dead That is how India was fighting
the war
What surprised many was the fact
that the Indian Air Force was NOT
used at all to fight the war That made the Army fighting on the ground a TIGER-WITHOUT-THE-CLAWS-AND-THE-NAILS.
Frequent PLAY-ON-PLAY-OFF with
the Pakistanis and the ISI
Since 1989 and ever since the
year 2017 India continuously EVERYDAY
is fighting a PROXY-WAR with
Pakistan and it’s trained terrorist at the border. This fight that is carried
out by ambushing by both the ned is giving a very different kind of a mental
make up and the strength everyday to the Indian Army for fighting it’s enemy
and learning the nuances of overhauling the strategy and changing the tricks
and the gamut of the fighters’ fight and the war .
A complete set of a new mind game
and a new pattern of the fight which
India is deploying is makng our Army very matured and very experienced to
change it’s gameploy and the strategy at the nick-of-the-time at any moment and
it puts the opponent in the worst of the position to get itself overhauled and
mauled. It is MOULDING the Indian
Army to the BEST of the MINDSET This is an advantage that the
Indian Army has SHRILLED with EVERY GRILL during the last few years.
MINDSET OF THE INDIAN ARMY SINCE 1967 AND THE “ REVERSES ” OF THE
CHINESE ARMY
In 1967 China had made an attempt to enter into Sikkim through the
Nathula Pass.It did enter India with a strength of about 500 Chinese Soldiers
heavily armed with modern sophisticated weapons.
Pics:: The 1967 Indo-China mini war at Natula Pass
The Indian Army hardly 50 in
numbers fought like a WOUNDED TIGER
to inflict such a casualty that there were about 150 Chinese Soldiers dead and
the remaining had to flee away from that area. There were many wounded as well. The casualty from the Indian ens was about 25 and it is siad that Albert Ekka was a part of this troupe of the Indian aemy which caused that kind of a serious damage to the Chinese Army. It was again the MINDSET and the OVERALL change in the attitude of the Indian Army then and from then onwards to quell off the disaster and the danger which went a LONG way in the 1971 war to fight the Pakistanis.
THAT WAS THE SEED SOWN FROM WHERE THERE WAS A
COMPLETE CHANGE OF THE MINDSET OF THE INDIAN ARMY AND IT'S ATTITUDE
A handful of the Indian army was
so aggressive and so FEROCIOUS that
it send a SHIVER down the spine of
the CHINESE AUTHORITIES then that it’s
planning to attack India thereafter went to the shadows of the defeat with it’s
JAW totally FREEZED and NERVED .
It is SO “ PITY ” that the shameless CONGRESS
WIPED this actual STORY of the
valour of the Indian Army from every pages of the books that wrote this story
in India on the various pages of every newspaper and the journals just because
Indira Gandhi was to take the HELP
of the COMMUNIST the LEFTISTS of India for forming the
Government of the Congress at the centre.
ONLY WE AS A SHAMEFUL NATION CAN AFFORD
TO DO THAT. ONLY CONGRESS AS A SHAMEFUL PARTY COULD HAVE DONE THAT.
Well
coming to the CHANGE of the mindset
of the Indian soldiers then- It was very evident which we saw about how Albert Ekka
ALONE took on the might of the
Pakistani Army in the 1971 war to destroy and completely annihilate that Army
in ONE night before he handed that CHOWKI of Pakistan- the entry point of
Bangladesh to the Indian Army before he breathed his last.
That kind of a mindset was there
and from there it started developing and germinating in the Indian Army after
that incursion and aggression of the Indian Army against the Chinese at the Nathula.
The Chinese since then lost a
MINI-BATTLE of ATTRITION in 1969 against the Russian in an tangle with them at
the Russia/USSR- China border and against the Vietnamese Army which were
numbered at 20,000 against the MIGHT of the Chinese Army which was numbered at
29,000.
China’s Planning To Engage India For A Duel
Without taking much and writing
much::
THE CHINESE WILL FIND THE MODERN INDIAN ARMY A
VERY VERY TOUGH CUSTOMER AND A HARD NUT TO CRACK. Take it from me the Chinese Administrators
of that GREAT country.
The kind of a KNACK-KNOCK-AND-THE
CRACK- that you will get and over it the destruction's that would be caused by
the Indian Air Force which was PURPOSELY NOT made to fly during the 1962
excursion will put you and your entire
country as well as it’s ECONOMY BACK by 30 years.
This is NOT the INDIA that you
saw that was ILL-GEARED UNGUARED and ILL-PREPARED as in 1962 to lose out that war.
THIS IS INDIA OF THE 21ST
MILLINIUM WHOSE ARMY SAYS THAT AND SINGS –
“ THE TIME HAS COME ”
Would NOT like to write any
