Dhyan Chand : Why Is That The “ family ”  Is Deprived Of The Highest National Honour

“ Dhyan Chand - the values he stood for , the ideals he lived up to will remain endearing, enduring and eternal “ .

Dhyan Chand: India’s greatest, with or without the Bharat Ratna

Ever since the Bombay Talkies blockbuster Jeevan Naiya ” hit the screen in 1934, the name Ashok Kumar meant only one person in the sub-continent. One of the first megastars of Indian cinema, he remained at the top of the game for nearly 40 years.

On March 15, 1975, an inside striker, precisely INSIDE-RIGHT,  who, too, was named Ashok Kumar by his parents, overnight turned a national hero when he struck the match-winner against Pakistan in the World Cup final in Kuala Lumpur. As the team returned to India with the World Cup (for the only time to date), there were tumultuous celebrations.

Pics - : Ashok Kumar dribbles past a Polish Midfielder in an Hockey Test match

“The distance from the Jhansi railway station to my ancestral home at number 296 at Sipri Bazaar,  is not more than a couple of kilometres. It took me more than four hours to reach home after I got down from the train,” said Ashok Kumar, pushing 70, with a laugh. “ Fans went completely crazy.”

A Celebrated Career : Envious but a reality of a “ BLUDEGOOMING ” tales

Known as the wizard of hockey, Dhyan Chand needs no introduction. He was the face of Indian hockey for the earlier part of 1928 to 1964 when India was the world leader in the sport. He helped the nation earn three successive Olympic gold medals in 1928, 1932 and 1936 .

Pic - :: Dhyanchand scoring a goal in the Finals  at Amsterdam  in 1928 .The match ended at 3-0 win for India and with her " FIRST " Gold Medal secured . Outside Left Jaffar watches

Originally known as Dhyan Singh, he came to be known as Chand as he used to practice for hours under the light of the moon after serving his duty hours for the Indian Army. Legend has it that the Indian hockey team, led by the dynamic Dhyan Chand, refused to bow down to Fuhrer Adolf Hitler during the 1936 Berlin Olympics; the USA being the only other team to do so. Following India’s dominating 8–1 over Germany in the final, Hitler offered Chand a senior post in the German Army but he declined the proposal.

After the match, the residents of Vienna built a statue of the wizard which depicts four hands and sticks, signifying the demi-god stature of the man.

Indifferent Attitude Of The Government to him and his family : Apathetical Gloom

When it comes to bestowing the Bharat Ratna upon him, the attitude of the Government of India has been rather indifferent. Despite being nominated by the Sports ministry for the award for as many as four times, both the UPA and the NDA government have lent a deaf ear to the demands.

In fact, even after the rules were amended to make sportspersons eligible for the award, cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar was chosen for the honour shortly after he hung his boots, that really makes the EYE blind to see and the ears makes a JOKE  to listen of out of it. Bit of it afterwards but  then THAT is the TRUTH of all the JOKES if at all there is something that ought to be added to the JOKES.

I shall lay some real TRUTH that was Dhyanchand.

A ) . 1932 : Dhyanchand Stops Germany and Japan to attack India-:

The Indian Hockey contingent were travelling to Los Angeles by the ship. In between the ship carrying the Indian players were crossing the Kama-Gata-Maru ship that belonged to Japan and it was carrying all the arsenals and the bombs for the Japanese Army which was planning to strike India India at the behest of Adolf Hitler.

India was ruled by Britain. There never use to be the TV channels during those days and as a result the bemusement of one nation and it’s act of amusing with the other was readily not known. Unknown and animosity ruled the reins between many a nations then because of the lack of inflow of proper communication. Dhyanchand being an Army personnel knew this.

No sooner that he came to know during the sail that the Japanese ship was crossing the Indian ship, and the Indian ship was to be attacked by the Japanese, Dhyanchand send a message to the Captain of the ship to talk to him ONCE. The Captain of that ship asked Dhyanchand to talk to him as that Captain of the Japanese ship knew what was Dhyanchand.

On meeting him the Japanese captain was shocked. This was the man who routed Great Britain in hockey and had forced the Olympic champion of 1920 and the 1924 of Hockey to withdraw their team from participating in the 1928 Olympics at Amsterdam. The Captain accorded a welcome of the greatest order and heard to Dhyanchnad who made the Japanese ship Commander to understand that IT WAS NOT INDIA THAT WAS FIGHTING TE GERMANS AND THE JAPANESE BUT WAS THE BRITISH AS INDIA WAS A SLAVE TO BRITISH.

Many AIR of uncertainty and many doubts were quelled and the result was that when Japan came to know the truth and when the truth was relayed to Adolf Hitler at Germany , the German wiped out all his plans to attack BRITISH-INDIA. India and Indians would be the sufferer said Hitler for the expense of the Britishers . Thus a probable attack on India at that time was warded away and major Dhyanhand was to play a GREAT role in it.

B ) > We Would Not Score Any More Goals against U S A : 1932 Olympics

It was the final of the hockey match against the host USA in 1932.

The Indian team by the end of the first half had scored 15 ( FIFTEEN) goals against USA . So pity were the Americans that they DID NOT WANT TO ENTER THE FIELD against India in the second half. Dhyanchand went to them saying that IT WOULD HURT THE IMAGE OF USA as they were the host and added that WE WILL NOT SCORE ANY GOALS AGAINST THE USA IN THE SECOND HALF.

A message was passed by Dhyanchand to the Indian team that they would not take any penalty-corners and would not take the penalty strokes against them in the second half. A message also was passed onto Roop Singh to NOT score any goals against USA in the second half. It was decided that unless and until a clean goal with the goalkeeper completely out of position, was found while attacking the US goals, the Indian would back pedal the ball and would NOT score any goals against them

Inspite of providing those handicaps, India scored another NINE goals against them with Roop Singh finishing with eleven ( 11) goals against US in the finals to win their SECOND SUCCESIVE OLYMPIC GOLD.

The US newspaper cried-  BUT FOR THE OVER GENEROSITY OF DHYANCHAND INDIA WOULD AND COULD HAVE SCORED ATLEAST ANOTHER TEN GOALS IN THE SECOND HALF APART FROM THOSE NINE ,  WITH ROOP SINGH SCORING ATLEAST FIVE OUT OF THEM .

So shameful that the U S A Hockey team was on that day because being the host people expected them to do something honourable on that day. They lost by 1-24 to India in the finals. They knew that the next day it would be their newspapers which would strangulate them and would kill them to the end of the hilt.

To save themselves from the acrimony they asked the Peruvian Football team to lend them their national jersey of football to wear it and then to stand on the podium. They did it because if the newspaper carried their pictures them satnding on the podium these American Hockey team would say atleast to save their face that it was the Peruvians standing on the podium and NOT the USA team at all for anything. It was that they had to do only to save their face .

C ) . ROOP , YOU WILL NOT SCORE ANY GOALS NOW  IN THIS MATCH : Olympics 1936

The finals of the 1936 Olympics were on and Germany was attacking India like anything. It may be  added here that in an exhibition match before the Olympics Berlin 1936 started, Germany in that game beat India by 4-1 . So to start with the Indians were overawed and they were a bit defensive in their approach. The defense of India was severly tested and Ahmed Sher Khan and Ifthikar Ali Khan Pataudi has a woeful time thwarting the German attacks.

Kuch Karo Bhai means do something , said Ahmed Sher Khan to Dhyanchand . It was simple and simply MAGIC  thereafter that started flowing with Ali Ishtiaque  Dara and Dhyanchand playing a ONE-TWO and piercing the Germans.

One after one India scored FOUR goals in the first half and conceded one. Roop Singh was getting over worried as Dhyanchand was NOT laying and exchanging any pass for him. He came upto his elder brother saying- MAI KYA KUCH BHI NAHIN HOON. GOAL TOH MUJHEY BHI KARNA HAI, which means that IS THAT I’M NOTHING IN THIS SIDE. ACCORDING TO THE PLANS OF THE COACH, I TOO HAVE TO SCORE.

Listening to him Dhyanchand said- BUS, SIRF “EK” HI KARNA . ZYADA NAHIN which means ONLY SCORE ONE AND NOT MORE. Aptly listening to his brother Roop Singh scored only ONE.

Because of Dhyanchand and his GENEROSITY Roop Singh could not score many many and many a goals in the Two Olympics that he played else he would have been the FIRST maybe, in the annals of Olympic Hockey to have finished scoring and ending his glorious Olympic career scoring FIFTY goals.

D ) . The US Newspaper praising and congrajulating Dhyanchand to allow USA to score ONE against them

Mauling the US team by 24-1 Dhyanchand in that moment looked at the face of some of the USA players playing against India. Their face could tell so many a tale about them. India were simply pounding them with the Indians making a mock drill  of  Hockey  and many a lessons to teach them on the field.

Within the game the Captain of the US Hockey team came to Dhyanchand and just asked him- HOW LONG WILL YOU ALL PLAY WITH US THE SAME WAY. IS THERE ANY METHOS THAT WE CAN BE RESPECTFUL TODAY. Hearing to it Dhyanchand said- USA will score ONE definitely. He passed on this message to the playing members to allow USA to score ONE which they did . That is how he played the game. He carried a lot of respect MORE for his opponent than for his team mate because he felt that SPORTS AND SPORTSMAN ARE ALL EQUAL.

After ther match he escorted the US team to their changing room and brought them back with all RESPECT for them to stand on the PODIUM to receive their medal .  That made him to win a LOT OF HEARTS at US.The USA team on that day after being mauled so very badly just DID NOT had the strength and the guts to come to the podium to receive their medal and had NOT been Dhyanchand, they perhaps would not have come to the podium to receive that.

The newspaper also PRAISED Dhyanchand for having ALLOWED US to score ONE against them as a GIFT from the Indian team to them. That was in the Olympics 1932 at Los Angeles.

Not Comparing Yet Analysing :: Dhyanchand was FAR ahead of Sachin in comparism::

Now, without getting into the debate of who out of Tendulkar and Dhyan Chand has done bigger service to the country – as doing so would mean undermining the efforts of both legends – let’s try to think of the logic behind the call. Assuming that the contribution of both Sachin and Dhyan Chand was equivalent, Chand should have been the first Indian sportsperson to receive the Bharat Ratna on the grounds of seniority.

Let us also take the INPUT-OUTPUT contribution of these two . Dhyanchand as I have explained brought India about 97%plus of victory and his goals as compared to the International matches he played for India as against the matches that he represented stands in the ratio of 1: 1 .He scored a 400 plus goals for India playing about 400 matches for them. In all in his enture  career he scored about 1248 goals in about 1167 games which is a ratio of 1.069:1 .

As compared Sachin Tendulkar for the 100 International centuries that he scored has the MORTIFICATION of losing about 65 matches for those centuries. In other words his 65 % of the effort ended in a LOSS for India .The remains of 35 % might have seen him winning  say about 15% of the matches in terms of finishing it in an even keel  and  losing  the remainders .

Karsan Ghavri At The Top On That Matter

No Indian cricketer in this regard stands even a FRACTION-OF-AN-INCH ahead of Karsan Ghavri in this matter . He played in 39 Tests, won 13 for India, lost 13 for India and drew 13 of them for India. Thus his ratio stands at 33.33%:33.33%:33.34% in terms of “ W-L-D ”  and he stands HEAD-AND-SHOULDER above anybody else as an Indian International cricketer but he is not and he was NOT even considered for an Arjuna which he really deserved as an cricketer but here we see Sachin Tendulkar with that kind of a “ HEINOUS- DISINTEGRATING- EFFORT ”  in terms of OUTPUT to receive that BHARAT RATNA for his OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION to sports. In ACTUALITY his contribution that helped India to win is say about 15 % and here we have Ghavri contributing about 33.33%. A FELLOW INDIAN CRICKETER who cannot match Ghavri in contribution is awarded the BHARAT RATNA over Dhyanchand whose RATIO and the CONTRIBUTION are 97% plus which is about SEVEN times more than Sachin. This explains the WORLD a lot but then that is what is the Indian Government which confers these awards. That is what is the CONGRESS which thinks in that manner.

JUXTAPOSITION:: The “ TALE” DOES NOT MAKES  IT THE “ WAGGING-TAIL ”

OK- this does not fulfils the juxtaposition let me  make a simple calculation.

Dhyanchand won THREE Olympic Gold playing in three of them. It is a 100% result in terms of the success . Sachin played in SEVEN WORLD CUP winning ONE and that too in India in 2011 . It took Sachin TWENTY TWO years to put his hand on the world Cup, and from THREE consecutive Olympics Dhayanchand had won THREE . That defines the LEXICOGRAPHY of         “ SIMPLE MADE SIMPLY SIMPLE ” .

Again- out of the 100 centuries that Sachin scored India lost in about 65 games in which he scored those, but out of the 400 goals scored by Dhyanchand for India in the matches he played for india from 1928 to 1948 ,  his 391 goals fetched India the WIN. It is 97.75% of success .

Out of the TWO-HUNDRED Test that Sachin played for India he migt have  lost in more than HUNDRED of those matches, whereas Dhyanchnad in his INTERNATIONAL for India from the three OLYMPICS did not LOSE any one of his match to his opponent. .

By that STANDARD what was Sachin’s ratio in terms of the runs he scored and the matches he played IT WAS AND IT IS ABSURD TO COMPARE AS THE ONE’S WHO BREATHE BY SACHIN’S NAME WILL FIND IT HARD TO “ DIGEST ” AND I DO NOT WANT TO DESTRUCT THE TASTE OF THEIR MOUTH.

On A “ HUMOUROUS ” NOTE , PLEASE - :

There were many a MOUTH and there were many who made a NATIONAL “ GULLIBLE ” CRIES on the media about conferring this award to Sachin over Dhyanchnad. It was because these elements were to be fetched by the MAHATMA which we keep in our pocket to make a MOUNTAINS of ENRICHMENT that would fulfil the tomma by the , that we call it “ ANGREZI-LASSI ” and many more of those things which fulfils the amusement. In terms of comical language and to describe the worst that comes out of the wine, also to mock it, in Hindi belt the English wines are known as " ANGREZI-LASSI " .

This I write only to add some LAUGHTER to those who might read this to SLANG me as SLANGING has become the BIRTH-RIGHT for the Indians now-a-days to make their justification felt and ofcourse if you have the MIGHT to prove that MIGHT-IS-RIGHT then ofcourse you can ask the people to gather and start BURNING the city, the town and the country . THAT MAKES YOU A LEADER MAYBE A LOCAL, REGIONAL OR THE NATIONAL IN THE FUTURE, but that is how it goes now a days.

Nothing that Sachin Tendulkar in terms of his achievement could match to Dhyanchand and  the family of Dhyanchand do not have the likes of Rajdeep Sardesi, and Boria Majumdar- another CROUCHING mouth with CROCKING words coming out of it for every time when we hear him about SPORTS.

Boria Majumdar has engulfed him with a habit. It is what one might ask me and I explain hereunder-:

If he critically speaks about anything in sports, just put some MONEY in his pocket and see the  RIGHT-ABOUT-TURN and the “ U-TURN ” that he will display- fully knowing that HE HAS NEVER SET HIS FOOT ON THE GROUND ANYTIME IN HIS LIFE.  Yet he has made the people all over India to feel that he is something SUPERNATURAL of sports , which he is not. Harsha Bhogle too is two yard ahead of Rajdeep Babu and Boria in this manner and matter. . He is the LUCKIEST one  WHO DOES NOT KNOWS ANYTHING ON OR ABOUT SPORTS BUT HAS MADE THE HIMALAYAS OF DOLLARS OUT OF IT What a “ KUBERI-BHAGYADHAN ”  that he possesses who does not even knows the FIRST sentence of “ LOKHI-PAANCHALI ” and might have NEVER read that even once though every Thursday in the evening the Bengali ladies would read it for Maa Laxmi to change their state of life monetarily which just does not happens to them even after reading that paanchali till the death takes them away. But here is a man who does not knows anything on sports to make a HIMALAYA out of it.

E ) . GREATEST EXAMPLE OF REVENGE :: NEVER WOULD IT BE SEEN ANYMORE

In the finals of the 1936 Olympics, Dhyanchand ws purposefully hit by the German goalkeeper. The hit was so strong that Dhyanchnad lost ONE of his tooth. A immediate first aid brought him back to the game.

He and the Indian team were waiting for another five minutes for the final hooter and to get that Gold. He came back and passed on a message to his teram mate. GEND SIRF MUJHE DENA. BUS SIRF MUJHE which means that GIVE THE BALL TO ME AND ONLY ME.

In that span of five times the Indians through Dhyanchand opened about TEN scoring chances flumping the German goalkeeper everytime with the OPEN goal in front of him yet Dhyanchand would NOT score. He repeatedly kept on sending the German goalkeeper on the ground to click the dust without scoring. Had the Indians scored the score would have been about twelve or even more than it but the Indians TAUGHT those Germinates and the German Goalkeeper some lesson about ARTISTIC HOCKEY of the GREATEST Asian brand. .

On the contrary Sachin was all BLAST on Rahul Dravid when Dravid had declared  the Indian innings in a Test match when Sachin was batting on an unbeaten 194 .The cause of anger was WHY DID’NT YOU WAIT FOR ME TO GET THAT DOUBLE. So that explains it and all about it.

Dissapointment : But Is There An Ear To Hear That and “ FLUXOM ” It Inversely

Expressing his disappointment over the decision, ex-Indian Hockey captain Sandeep Singh now a MLA in the BJP Government at Haryana,  had said, “Hockey has brought India pride many times. It’s the third largest sports in the world. The sports which are on number one and two spot don’t even have a history in India. Secondly, if we don’t want to recognize it as the national game then we also shouldn’t celebrate August 28, hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary, as National Sports Day in India.”

“It’s a shame that a person who has done India proud in so many occasions hasn’t been given the highest honour of the country, yet.”

During his last days, when Dhyan Chand needed his country the most – the same country which he had helped win laurels by giving his blood and sweat – India gave him a cold shoulder. With no financial support, the legend spent his last days in the general ward of AIIMS, fighting a losing battle with liver cancer.

“Why are we begging for the award for Dadda (Dhyan Chand). He should have been the first to get it. Whether he gets it or not, the cult of Dhyan Chand will remain forever,” former India hockey coach AK Bansal had said while speaking during one of the panel discussions held on National Sports Day.

YET- I BEG IT FOR HIM, FOR HOCKEY TO THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT

It is quite interesting to draw a parallel here that the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi never got a Nobel Prize. Despite that, he remains to be revered far more than most Nobel laureates across the world. On the same lines, if Dhyan Chand is not conferred with the Bharat Ratna, whose loss is it?

Indian sport’s “ first ” family :: Can That Be “ Termed ” As One ?

But, a brush with name and fame was not exactly a new experience for Ashok Kumar. He had come from a family, which already had five Olympic gold medals in the cupboard. Three belonged to his father, Dhyan Chand, arguably the greatest hockey player in history. The other two were bagged by his uncle Roop Singh.

Pics - : Olympic '36 Roop Singh "magically" weaves through the strong French  defense in the semis. India beat France by 10-0.

Ashok, too, added a few medals to the collection. A bronze, a silver and the winners’ medal – all from the first three editions of the World Cups he played. He won a bronze in 1972 Olympics, and three silver medals in Asian Games. In the 70s, Ashok was arguably the world’s finest inside striker, a star by his own right, who did not have to refer to his father every time to make people take notice of him.

I place here the list and the numbers of the medal by that family- the “ SINGH ” family of Dhyanchand whom we are talking about-:

This apart the family has also contributed to THREE more medals, ONE coming through Ms Neha who gave India a SILVER MEDAL in Hockey in the Womens' Asian Championship , and then there were two more International medal both GOLD, when Ashok Kumar representing India at the Pesta Sukan International, won a GOLD in 1971 at Malaysia and again in 1975 when India beat Belgium by 2-0 in the Finals Of Rene Frank International Hockey tourney to win that Trophy. This makes it a total of FIFTEEN Medals from the Internationals in Hockey for India.

This family in TOTO has contributed “ SIX ” GOLDS to India in hockey, from the Olympics and the World Cup, and except the GOLD in the Asian  Games Hockey , it has won the GOLD for India in all the other hockey tournament that tags itself with an INTERNATIONAL SPORTS-FIESTA as far as events are concerned .

The entire family representing India in FIFTEEN  different edition of the International fiesta of games- won 15 medals averaging ONE MEDAL each per games. THIS IS A WORLD RECORD in terms of the RATIO that a family has won in ONE event of the games ranging from the Olympics to the Asian games in ONE event of the games,  and BET- IT WOULD NOT BE BROKEN FOR ATLEAST ANOTHER 100 YEARS

LOCK IT-  NO FAMILY IN INDIA FOR ANOTHER CENTURY OR EVEN MORE WILL WIN THIS MANY MEDALS FOR INDIA IN A SINGLE EVENT OF THE SPORTS.

Pic- : 1975 :: Ashok Kumar receiving his Arjuna Award  award from the Hon'ble President .

Going by this logic- the TRIO Major Dhaynchand should have won the BHARAT RATNA many a years ago, his BROTHER , Captain ROOP SINGH should have won the prestigious and the " gangling "  “ PADMA SHRI ” and that should have been conferred to him between 1964 to 1969 and Ashok Kumar whose tally of medals is illustrated here should have been conferred the Padma Shri between the period of 1987 to 1995 .

There are several examples of father and son duo shining for the country in Indian sport. Starting from Lala Amarnath-Mohinder Amarnath, Vijay Manjrekar-Sanjay Manjrekar, Vinoo Mankad-Ashok Mankad, Yograj Singh-Yuvraj Singh, Vece Paes-Leander Paes, Micheal Ferriera and Mark Ferriera, Shyam Thapa and Manas Thapa,  – there are many other such instances where two generation of sportspersons, who have done the country proud in sporting arena.

Dhyanchand :: Ashok Kumar - The "FIRST" Father-Son duo to win an Olympic Hockey Medal

In the entire history of the Indian sports and in the entire HISTORY of the WORLD Hockey, it is Major Dhyanchand and his son , Asshok Kumar who became the FIRST , FATHER-SON duo to win an Olympic Hockey Medal for India . This was followed by Vece Paes and Leander Paes who won it as the second pairing of the Father-Son duo to win the Olympic medal for India but that was in two different sports.

Vece Paes was the member of the Indian Hockey team that won the Bronze in the 1972 Olympics and his son Leander won an Oympic Bronze in Lawn Tennis. It would attract to know the readers that Vece Paes played Hockey for Mohu Bagan and India along with Ashok Kumar .

Few, however, can match the family of Dhyan Chand but FRANKLY no one can match the LAUREL that this family has brought to India. . Several from the family have played hockey with distinction and have donned the national colours sometime or the other. To say the Jhansi based family is like the first family of Indian sport won’t be an exaggeration though Ashok is reluctant to be dragged into this debate.

“Is it for me to say it? Won’t it sound like beating my own drum? It is for the people to judge and I will leave it to them. All I can say is that my entire family played hockey with lots of passion and people appreciated their skills.

“Let’s not start with cliché of discussing about my father’s class and ability as a hockey player. But remember, it was Dhyan Chand, who made people around the world realise the standard of Indian hockey during the 1926 tour of New Zealand. That was a huge thing for a nation, which was yet to gain independence. He was later joined by his brother Roop Singh in 1932 and 1936 Olympics. I was the third member of the family to play the Olympics,” he added.

The family’s hockey repertoire, however, speaks for itself - :: .

Says Ashok Kumar with PRIDE , “My uncles and brothers have all played hockey at some stage or the other, mostly at the national level. Roop Singh’s son Bhagat Singh played for India in exhibition matches. My elder brother Raj Kumar was a brilliant player, who captained Mohun Bagan and Bengal and played for India in tour matches. My other brothers Umesh Kumar, Davinder Singh were quality players. My niece Neha Singh represented the national team,” said Ashok.

Yet, none of the second generation players learned their game from Dhyan Chand. In fact, he didn’t even encourage them to pursue the sport. He, perhaps, would have liked them to concentrate in academics.

That House That Had Three Olympic “ GOLD ” did not have electricity till 1963

Ashok Kumar gets a bit nostalgic and his eye are filled with TEARS. He says that one would NOT believe me if I say the kind of tortures that we had to see and go during the time when we had to study at NIGHT because we were NOT supplied the electricity in that house at all till 1963

Burning the LAMPS and lighting the candles we all the brothers and the sisters assembled at one of a very small room to study at night during the entire academic years aftar years to pass our exam. For that was the pitiable condition that we were put at and my Father DID NOT WANT US TO PLAY HOCKEY. “ HOCKEY GAVE ME NO RECOGNITION AND RESPECT ”, HE WOULD SAY TO HIS SONS AND DAUGHTERS always and would plea them to study hard and well.

“You just asked me something about the first family of sport in India. Well, I don’t know what does it exactly mean. All I know that by 1936, my father had three gold medals in his home in Jhansi. But the same house didn’t have an electricity connection till 1963. He retired from the Army in 1956, but worked as a coach in various government positions for many years.

“Of course, he was sought after because of his knowledge and fame. But the reason he kept on working was that he needed a steady income to support a large family. There was definitely a time when he wanted to rest, but he had no option then,” said Ashok.

For the love of the game

There was no dramatic change in the lifestyle of the so-called first family even after Ashok Kumar returned home with the World Cup medal.

“ I was employed with Indian Airlines. I used to take up flight purser’s duty regularly because it used to fetch me some extra allowance. My salary was ordinary. When I bought a flat in Delhi, I was burdened with too many loans. “ We were financially never too sound, but in terms of medals, few in India would be able to match our family,” he said and he always says it  with pride. Ofcourse that is well illustrated in the chart of the medal that I have put above for the readers to read that and those.

Indian hockey, Ashok feels, has often been ruined by politics. “ It happened always, starting from the days when my father and uncle played the game. It was no different when I played ”. When I look back at 1972 Olympics, I still wonder why Surjit Singh, Balbir Singh or Inam-ur-Rehman did not make the squad. Had they been there, we would have never lost to Pakistan, I can say it confidently.”

Dhyanchand Realises The “ Futility ” of the process

Perhaps Dhyan Chand realised the futility of the process long before his son did. In 1975, when Ashok returned home from Kuala Lumpur, his father was unusually quiet amidst revelries all around.

“ When I reached home, he was standing at the courtyard of our house with other family members. I stopped and touched his feet. He put his hand on my head for a few seconds but didn’t say a word. Then he slowly walked back into the house. Being a reserved man, that was probably the best way to express his appreciation. Believe me, it was one of the best moments of my sporting career. Because I knew he did not want us to play the game,” says Ashok but against his wish and against all the odds- I FINALLY BROUGHT THAT WORLD CUP HOME prides Ashok .

He then, paused to add: “ Babuji was aware how the system worked. Olympics were not held in 1940 and 1944. That would have added two more gold medals to his kitty” . But still he knew it was impossible to change the system. And now, I also know it. That’s what leaves me frustrated at times. Because, “ first family or not, hockey will remain our family’s first love. Forever. Always.”

Working Style – A BIT Different and that is the REAL CAUSE : Mr Modi has to be a " SAMARITAN "

Well it was the FILE that had Dhyanchand’s name for the BHARAT RATNA. The media in a process to get their HORRENDOUS motive fulfilled made a stage where Sachin Tendulkar met Rahul Gandhi .The BEST is Not to talk about this CHARACTER for anything about anything.

Sachin met him and the media went berseck about this meeting. SOMETHING transpired and the name Dhyanchand got converted into Sachin Tendulkar overnight courtesy this RAJKUMAR of the Gandhi scion . This scion met Mr Man Mohan Singh and turned the file putting Sachin Tendulkar’s name for the same and got the signature of the Prime Minister of India then and send the file overnight to Mrs Pratibha Patil to sign on it. It was done BLINDLY as it is the ORDERS of the N-G family are translated into a reality blindly ever since 1930.

From then onwards we can see the plight of those Indians who really KNOW the SPORTS and it’s tale of India CRYING and some have even lost their SIGHT because of the no ending tears falling out of their eye.

Mr Shivraj Singh Chauhan writes to “PM” Modi but all in vain-:

It was Mr Shivraj Singh Chauhan  the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh , who had thereafter for THREE different times had written a OFFICIAL letters to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi to confer the BHARAT RATNA to Mr Dhyanchand and probably if my information is CORRECT to confer the Padma Shri to Captain Roop Singh but the style of working of Mr Modi is so very different from Mr Manmohan Singh and that tells that .

Still if the Hon’ble President Of India and the Hon’ble Prime Minister even now confer this award to the names mentioned and adds the name of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose for the BHARAT RATNA the daughter of Netaji at Germany and the family of Dhyanchand at LAST will feel- ::

THE ALMIGHTY HAS BLESSED THEM and India has “ WORSHIPPED ” at LAST the one’s who were and are the REAL GOD of POLITICS and “ Indian Sports That We Know As Cricket  ”

So many and so a " MANY " useless " GOD " have been produced by cricket tat their output in terms of Indian getting the major benefit remains a " QUESTION-OF-CONJECTURE "

And For Once -  for the sake of the nation " Mr Modi has to be a " SAMARITAN "  Yes he has to for the FIRST " FAMILY" of Indian sports   He has to be in case of many who purposely have been deprived of the honour and they are waiting for him to be a Samaritan for them to get the justice out of him.

It is still a matter of intrigue and the entire nation keeps on asking to each other without finding any real proper answer as to - "  WHY IS THAT MAJOR DHYANCHAND AND NETAJI SUBASH CHANDRA BOSE ARE AND HAVE BEEN DEPRIEVED OF THER BHARAT RATNA AND TO WHAT AN EXTENT THEY WOULD BE DEPRIVED OF THE SAME "

That sums it all about this family that brother Roop Singh the WORLD’s BEST CENTRE-FORWARD produced in Hockey, and  youngest of Dhyanchand’s brother the middle one was a wrestler and his son Ashok Kumar who was the BEST DRIBLLER and an inside RIGHT , of hockey during his playing days.
